Thiaw targeted by Newcastle United again, but Milan situation changed https://football-italia.net/thiaw-targeted-newcastle-united-milan-changed/ https://football-italia.net/thiaw-targeted-newcastle-united-milan-changed/#respond Mon, 04 Aug 2025 14:30:53 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906304

Newcastle United have reportedly resumed their pursuit of Malick Thiaw, but face two further hurdles from Milan, including a Premier League price hike.

It has been a rather difficult summer for the defender, who already rejected a transfer that had been agreed with Como, then seemed uninterested in the Magpies either.

He was determined to either remain and fight for his place under new coach Max Allegri at San Siro, or return to the Bundesliga.

Now transfer pundit Matteo Moretto claims via Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel that Newcastle United are back asking after his availability.

There are two big problems that have developed since the first approach, though.

The first is that Thiaw has impressed Allegri during pre-season training and Milan are not quite as eager to sell as they had been previously.

The other, as pointed out by MilanNews, is that Premier League clubs have a reputation for spending big and therefore the asking price is boosted when doing business with them.

It means the €25m offer from Como that had been accepted by the Rossoneri, but not by the player, is no longer sufficient.

If Newcastle United want to do a deal, they are going to have to pay around €35m instead.

That money could then be used to reinvest in Parma centre-back Giovanni Leoni, who would cost around €40m.

Como ready to release Morata with extra 3m to Galatasaray https://football-italia.net/como-ready-to-release-morata-3m-galatasaray/ https://football-italia.net/como-ready-to-release-morata-3m-galatasaray/#respond Mon, 04 Aug 2025 14:19:31 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906301

The Alvaro Morata saga might finally be coming to an end with reports Como intervened to offer €3m to Galatasaray, helping to break the Milan loan impasse.

The striker agreed personal terms almost two months ago and has been increasingly frustrated by the lack of progress for this return to Serie A.

The problem is that he joined Galatasaray on loan in January for €6m with an obligation to buy in January 2026 for a further €8m.

Now the Turkish team is demanding a big payment to interrupt that agreement, release him back to Milan so that he can then join Como.

According to Calciomercato.com, the breakthrough can be achieved if Como help Milan to pay that penalty, so President Mirwan Suwarso is stepping in to propose €3m.

That can reduce Milan’s payment to just €5-6m so that everyone can be satisfied with the outcome.

Como coach Cesc Fabregas is eager to work with Morata, who turns 33 in October and brings valuable experience to what is otherwise a largely young team.

Milan had only purchased the Spaniard from Atletico Madrid for €13m in July 2024.

Andrea Belotti is still on the books for Como after a loan experience at Benfica, but looking for a new adventure including Pisa or Serie B clubs.

The 31-year-old made the transfer from Roma to Como for €4.5m in 2024 and was loaned to Benfica six months later.

He made relatively little impact, with four goals and one assist in 24 competitive games for the Portuguese side, including two appearances in the FIFA Club World Cup.

His contract with Como runs to June 2026, so but the veteran striker is not part of their plans under Cesc Fabregas.

According to Calciomercato.com, the most likely next destination for Il Gallo is Pisa, who just earned promotion from Serie B and will be coached by Alberto Gilardino.

There are initial negotiations taking place, although so far there is no agreement.

Other options that could give Belotti more regular playing time would be in Serie B, with several clubs showing an interest.

The former Palermo, Torino and Fiorentina centre-forward scored 114 goals in 348 Serie A appearances, along with 32 assists.

Como close in on Morata as Milan and Galatasaray strike deal https://football-italia.net/como-close-in-on-morata-milan-galatasaray/ https://football-italia.net/como-close-in-on-morata-milan-galatasaray/#respond Sat, 02 Aug 2025 14:48:37 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906105

Milan and Galatasaray are close to reaching an agreement to terminate the loan of Alvaro Morata, reports from Italy claim, freeing up the Spanish forward to move to Como.

According to what has been reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport, after weeks of negotiations between the various clubs involved, the Morata saga may finally be over soon as the striker heads to Como.

The former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea player had been on loan with Galatasaray since January but when Como came knocking this summer, the Rossoneri accepted a proposal from Cesc Fabregas’ side. Therefore, Milan had to talk to Galatasaray about terminating the players loan, something the Turkish club were refusing to let happen easily.

As Morata saga draws to a close, Como prepare for valuable reinforcement

Morata was a top target of Como this summer, with the club looking to build on their successful return to Serie A last season. The Spanish forward is experienced and played alongside head coach Fabregas for both Chelsea and the Spanish national team.

Gazzetta report that the fee will be around €10 million and Galatasaray will likely earn a sum in compensation from the Rossoneri once Morata’s move to Como is complete.

Ipswich attempt to hijack Valencia move for Como striker https://football-italia.net/ipswich-attempt-hijack-valencia-deal-como-azon/ https://football-italia.net/ipswich-attempt-hijack-valencia-deal-como-azon/#respond Fri, 01 Aug 2025 13:27:43 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=905942

Ipswich Town have sent an offer for Como striker Iván Azón, trying to hijack Valencia’s move, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Championship side Ipswich Town have entered the race to sign Como striker Azon on loan, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Como were close to reaching an agreement with Valencia over the striker’s loan move, but Ipswich have now offered to sign the striker on loan with an obligation to buy to be activated in case of Premier League promotion in 2025-26.

According to the report, Valencia have offered to sign the player on a dry loan deal for the 2025-26 campaign.

Ipswich, on the other hand, have also offered an option to buy in case they don’t return to the Premier League this season, plus a heavy loan fee.

Azon, 22, joined Como in a €2m deal from Real Zaragoza in the 2025 winter transfer window.

The Spaniard didn’t get any playing time under Cesc Fabregas in the second part of the 2024-25 campaign as he was available for just six games, which he spent on the bench as an unused substitute.

The 22-year-old, however, has scored three goals in the 2025-26 pre-season with Como.

Ipswich have also shown interest in Napoli midfielder Jens Cajuste, with talks between the two clubs ongoing.

Como have officially sold forward Gabriel Strefezza to Greek side Olympiacos for a fee reported to be around €8m.

The 28-year-old had already flown out to undergo his medical tests over the last couple of days and put pen to paper this afternoon on a contract to June 2029.

Although Brazilian, he had spent practically his entire playing career in Italy, starting from the SPAL youth team in 2016 after leaving Corinthians.

He went on to represent Juve Stabia, Cremonese, Lecce and joined Como on loan in January 2024, making it permanent six months later for €3.5m.

Strefezza helped Como earn promotion into Serie A, where he contributed six goals and four assists in 37 appearances last season.

Como also announced the official loan with option to buy of midfielder Luca Mazzitelli to Cagliari.

He had spent the last six months on loan at Sassuolo in Serie B.

Official: Como sign Ramon from Real Madrid in complicated agreement https://football-italia.net/official-como-sign-ramon-real-madrid-agreement/ https://football-italia.net/official-como-sign-ramon-real-madrid-agreement/#respond Thu, 31 Jul 2025 15:47:45 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=905796

Como have officially signed defender Jacobo Ramon from Real Madrid on a permanent transfer, in a deal similar to that of Nico Paz, with several buy-back clauses.

The central defender turned 20 in January and is a product of the Real Madrid youth academy, moving all the way up the various teams.

Ramon has represented Spain at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 levels.

“Jacobo is a young player with great prospects,” Como coach Cesc Fabregas told the club website.

“He comes from one of the most competitive youth academies in the world, where he has been able to hone his skills, and we are confident he will have a very positive impact on our team.”

Why Ramon is owned by both Como and Real Madrid

MADRID, SPAIN - MAY 14: Jacobo Ramon of Real Madrid CF in action during the LaLiga match between Real Madrid CF and RCD Mallorca at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on May 14, 2025 in Madrid, Spain. (Photo by Florencia Tan Jun/Getty Images)

A statement from Real Madrid merely confirmed that they had ‘reached an agreement for the transfer’ of the player to Como, but gave no further details.

The reality is a little more complicated, as Como are expected to pay circa €2.5m plus add-ons for his signature.

However, Real Madrid are owed 50 per cent of any future sale fee and have three different buy-back options in case they want to bring him to the Bernabeu.

COMO, ITALY - FEBRUARY 07: Nico Paz of Como 1907 looks o during the Serie A match between Como 1907 and Juventus at Stadio G. Sinigaglia on February 07, 2025 in Como, Italy. (Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images)

This is the same structure that allowed Como to sign Nico Paz, as he had an option for Real Madrid to recall for €8m in June 2025.

That rises to €9m in 2026 and €10m in 2027 before it expires completely.

This complicated system allows Como to develop the players by giving them regular time in Serie A, but also for Real Madrid to potentially reap the rewards at a later date.

In the past, it would’ve been called a co-ownership deal, but those formulas were banned several years ago.

Como are interested in signing Cagliari forward Roberto Piccoli, reports from Italy claim, amid rumours linking the Italian striker to West Ham United and Benfica.

According to what has been reported by CalcioMercato, Como are the latest team to register an interest in the Cagliari forward, yet the Sardinian club want no less than €30 million for Piccoli’s signature – having only just made the striker’s move from Atalanta permanent for €12.5 million.

West Ham made a further request for information on Tuesday, as the club evaluate potential striker options. Benfica, meanwhile, are closing in on Union Saint-Gilloise’s Franjo Ivanovic and have put a move for Piccoli on the back-burner.

As well as Piccoli, Como wait on Milan and Galatasaray for Morata deal

Como have also been strongly linked with a move for Milan forward Alvaro Morata, currently on loan in Turkey with Galatasaray. Despite reaching an agreement with Milan and the player himself, Como are waiting for Galatasaray to relinquish their loan.

The Spaniard currently is contracted to the Super Lig club until Summer 2026 and the Turkish giants are waiting for the Rossoneri to make a suitable proposal to cancel the deal.

Alvaro Morata reportedly did not return from Spain for training with Galatasaray, as he urges them to release him from the Milan loan so he can join Como.

According to Turkish transfer pundit Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, the 32-year-old did not come back on schedule from his vacation in Spain and skipped training.

This could be a significant step in trying to force through his desired transfer back to Italy.

Morata only wants Como move

The striker agreed personal terms with Como and expressed his enthusiasm for the Cesc Fabregas project weeks ago, while Milan were also content to let him move within Serie A.

The problem is that he only joined Galatasaray in January on a paid loan to January 2026 at a cost of €6m with obligation to buy for €8m.

Not only are the Turkish side refusing to accept under €6m to release Morata from the loan, but there are also increasing reports they want to keep hold of him for this season while Mauro Icardi continues the recovery process from a serious knee injury.

Como have agreed the sale of forward Gabriel Strefezza to Olympiacos in a deal worth circa €8m, confirm multiple sources.

The rumours had already emerged yesterday that an agreement was imminent, with Alfredo Pedullà noting that it was the player who pushed for this transfer, whereas Como had been content to keep him.

The opportunity to play in the Champions League for the first time in his career was a strong draw.

Now Sky Sport Italia, Fabrizio Romano and more all confirm that the full details have been worked out and Strefezza will fly out for his medical in Greece.

He will then sign a four-year contract believed to be worth €1.3m per season in wages.

The 28-year-old Brazilian spent practically his entire career in Italy, leaving Corinthians to join the SPAL academy in 2016.

He went on to represent SPAL, Juve Stabia, Cremonese and Lecce, moving to Como in 2024 first on loan and then on a permanent transfer.

An attacking winger, he amassed 123 Serie A appearances with 16 goals and 10 assists, along with a further 103 games in Serie B.

Kevin Trapp was once again offered to Como, but the club’s priority is to finalise a deal for Alvaro Morata while Matthias Braunöder is on the verge of joining Serie B side Bari.

German goalkeeper Trapp has been offered to Como again in recent hours, sources with direct knowledge of the matter tell me.

However, Como will only decide on the goalkeeper in the coming weeks as their current priority is to work on a deal to sign Alvaro Morata from Milan.

The Spaniard is on loan at Galatasaray until the end of the year (December 31, 2025).

Morata joined the Turkish club on a temporary deal during the 2025 January transfer window and has scored seven goals in 16 appearances across all competitions in Istanbul.

Lega Serie A announce new rule changes for postponed games https://football-italia.net/lega-serie-a-new-rule-changes-postponed-games/ https://football-italia.net/lega-serie-a-new-rule-changes-postponed-games/#respond Tue, 29 Jul 2025 15:26:40 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=905478

The Lega Serie A published the rule changes for the 2025-26 season for deciding what happens when matches are interrupted or postponed, aiming to play within 24 hours.

There were several situations last term where the games were delayed due to weather warnings or events, which saw the fixture list thrown into chaos with the difficulty of rearranging them.

Now the clubs have come together and approved a new set of rules to make the situation easier, or at the very least provide a little more clarity when they do occur.

Serie A rules for postponed fixtures

The Lega Serie A warns that games that were postponed before kick-off must start within the next 24 hours, unless there are exceptional circumstances such as the pitch still being unsuited to a football match, coinciding with the break for international duty, or games that are too close together.

In these cases, the Lega Serie A will dictate the rescheduling at the earliest available opportunity.

There must be at least two free days guaranteed between fixtures for both the teams involved.

When it comes to games that have been interrupted, the same Serie A rule applies as last season, namely that they pick up precisely where they left off.

If a match was stopped after 80 minutes, for example, then the teams will come back out to play the remaining 10 minutes plus stoppages.

Here too, the aim is to resume the day after it was interrupted.

There are some changes in the rules, as clubs can bring in up to three new players who were signed after the interruption, as long as they did not cross over from the other team involved in the match.

However, those who were sent off, substituted, or suspended for the original game cannot be brought back in.

Italy international Retegui became the most expensive player to be sold by a Serie A club this summer when he completed a staggering €68.5m move to join Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League.

There is a chance that he is overtaken by Reijnders in the future. The Dutchman left Milan to join Man City in a deal that included a guaranteed fee of €55m, but a complicated bonus structure could potentially see the total cost of the deal rise beyone the €70m mark.

Sam Beukema, who is also currently the most expensive signing in Serie A this transfer window, is the third most expensive sale, following his €31m move from Bologna to Napoli. He could soon be overtaken by former Rossoblu teammate Dan Ndoye, who is close to joining Nottingham Forest for a fee upwards of €45m.

Ange-Yoan Bonny, who completed a deal worth €26m including bonuses to join Inter on a permanent basis from Parma, currently sits in fourth place in the list of Serie A departures.

Sam Beukema remains the most expensive arrival of the Serie A transfer window so far in the summer of 2025 following his €31m move from Bologna to Napoli earlier in July, but who else joins the Dutchman in the Top 10 most expensive signings in Italy this summer?

Beukema became Napoli’s seventh-most expensive signing of all-time and Bologna’s third-most expensive sale of all-time when he completed a €31m move to the Stadio Maradona in July. The Dutchman is one of two Napoli players to feature on this list.

Francisco Conceicao joined Juventus on a permanent transfer this summer at a cost of €30.4m, payable over four instalments, following the completion of his loan spell in Turin last season. This deal is classed as a new arrival for 2025, as there was no option to buy clause involved in the 22-year-old’s loan spell last season.

On Monday evening, Roma completed the €30m signing of Wesley from Flamengo, agreeing to pay a fixed fee of €25m plus up to €5m in bonuses. If the full €30m fee is paid, the Brazilian will become Roma’s most expensive defender of all time.

This one had been in the works for a very long time, as negotiations dragged on for weeks before Roma finally managed to get an agreement in place with Flamengo for the wing-back.

The eventual cost of the operation should be a €25m fixed fee, plus €5m in various add-ons.

They also had to wait until Flamengo had successfully found a replacement, who also came from Serie A in the form of Milan’s Emerson Royal for €9m.

Milan also sent striker Colombo to Genoa on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season if certain conditions are met.

It is reported the conditions are as simple as the Grifone remaining in Serie A, while the cost should come out at €10m.

Another loan with option to buy saw Alieu Fadera move from Como to Sassuolo, although his parent club did retain a counter-option to bring him back to base next summer.

Sassuolo have officially signed attacking winger Alieu Fadera from Como, on loan with option to buy and counter-option.

The transfer had been in the works for a while and was finally completed this evening.

According to reports, Sassuolo are paying a €1m fee for the one-season loan and have an option to buy at the end of the season for a further €10m.

At the same time, Como will retain a buy-back clause, as confirmed by the statement on the official Sassuolo website.

The 23-year-old only joined Como last summer from KRC Genk for €5m plus add-ons.

He is a Gambia international with 12 senior caps for his country.

Primarily a left-sided attacking winger, Fadera scored one goal and provided four assists in his debut season at Como, achieved during 28 Serie A appearances.

Those were 20 starts and eight games coming off the bench as a substitute.

Morata blocked again by Galatasaray, as Como sell Strefezza for 8m https://football-italia.net/morata-blocked-by-galatasaray-como-strefezza/ https://football-italia.net/morata-blocked-by-galatasaray-como-strefezza/#respond Mon, 28 Jul 2025 17:56:16 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=905317

Galatasaray have reportedly refused a €4m proposal to interrupt Alvaro Morata’s Milan loan and send him to Como, while Gabriel Strefezza is close to Olympiacos.

The Morata situation has been dragging on for weeks, as the striker has agreed personal terms with Como and is determined to make the return to Serie A quickly.

However, before Milan can make that move, they need to break the loan deal he struck with Galatasaray in January.

The Turkish team paid €6m for the loan until January 2026, with obligation to buy for €8m at that point, or for €9m if extending the loan to June 2026.

According to the latest reports from MilanNews, Galatasaray have rejected a €4m offer to interrupt the loan early, and might even want to keep hold of the 32-year-old Spain international striker.

It is a further blow for Morata, Milan and Como in this complicated plan.

Meanwhile, Tuttomercatoweb also report that Como are close to selling Strefezza to Olympiacos in a move worth €8m.

Various sources indicate that the deal will include a buy-back clause, in a similar manner to Nico Paz’s move to Cesc Fabregas’ side last summer, as the two clubs maintain a healthy working relationship.
