Cagliari are ready to resume talks with Inter for Sebastiano Esposito as the Sardinians are determined to reach an agreement for the Italian striker.

The Rossoblu first made contact with the Nerazzurri on July 2, and the club owned by Tommaso Giulini is determined to push for the ex-Empoli loanee in the coming days.

Esposito has one year left in his contract at San Siro, and Inter value him at €7m.

Esposito, scorer of eight goals in 33 Serie A appearances with Empoli last season, has also attracted interest from Fiorentina and Parma who have both sounded out the striker’s availability.

I had already mentioned him for a possible player-plus-cash swap deal with Parma for Giovanni Leoni, but Inter’s current priority is the signing of Ademola Lookman from Atalanta.

Cagliari are eager to reach an agreement with Inter as talks will resume in the following days.

Esposito played for Inter in the Club World Cup earlier this summer after spending the 2024-25 season on loan at Empoli.

Goglichidze possible Leoni replacement at Parma https://football-italia.net/goglichidze-possible-leoni-replacement-parma/ https://football-italia.net/goglichidze-possible-leoni-replacement-parma/#respond Fri, 25 Jul 2025 21:39:26 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=904994

Parma are hoping to resist the pressure from Inter and Milan to keep hold of Giovanni Leoni, but in case he does leave this summer, Saba Goglichidze is emerging as a potential replacement.

Leoni is only 18 years old, but has already made such a big impression in his debut Serie A season that the Ducali are ready to hold out for €40m before letting him go.

Just in case any club, and the most likely is Inter, manages to coax him away from the Stadio Tardini, Parma are looking around for suitable heirs.

Goglichidze top of Parma list

Among the top names on that list is Goglichidze, the Georgia international who just celebrated his 21st birthday last month.

He is not expected to remain at Empoli following their relegation to Serie B, so is just looking for his next destination.

There has also been interest from abroad, including the Saudi Pro League, but Parma are keeping an eye on him regardless.

Cremonese bringing in Grassi, Pezzella and Maleh after Empoli experience https://football-italia.net/cremonese-bring-grassi-pezzella-maleh-empoli/ https://football-italia.net/cremonese-bring-grassi-pezzella-maleh-empoli/#respond Tue, 22 Jul 2025 16:42:10 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=904417

Serie A newcomers Cremonese are bringing in Giuseppe Pezzella and Alberto Grassi, but could also get another former Empoli player in the form of Youssef Maleh from Lecce.

They were the last club to book their spot in the top flight for the 2025-26 campaign, having gone through the play-offs to join Sassuolo and Pisa in the 20-team division.

Under new coach Davide Nicola, the Grigiorossi are working to consolidate their squad with more experience this summer.

They particularly seem to be focused on the former Empoli players who were relegated last term.

As we had already exclusively confirmed, Grassi was given the all-clear for a permanent transfer, which was completed at the weekend.

Pezzella is next in line, as the left-back will have his medical tests tomorrow for another sale.

Up on the horizon is Maleh, who spent the last two seasons on loan at Lecce, returning to the Stadio Via del Mare this summer.

The negotiations for the midfielder are going to take a little longer to finalise, but they are well on the way to an agreement for the player who turns 27 next month.

Empoli left-back Cacace on verge of Wrexham transfer https://football-italia.net/empoli-left-back-cacace-verge-wrexham-transfer/ https://football-italia.net/empoli-left-back-cacace-verge-wrexham-transfer/#respond Fri, 18 Jul 2025 19:42:07 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=903961

After links with Lecce, Cremonese and Pisa, Wrexham confirm they are close to signing Empoli defender Liberato Cacace.

The 24-year-old is a New Zealand international of obvious Italian origins who has been at Empoli since leaving VV Sint-Truiden in January 2022.

His departure seemed likely after relegation to Serie B and the fact his contract only runs to June 2026.

Numerous clubs were mentioned as options for the left-back, including current top flight Italian sides Lecce, Cremonese and Pisa.

However, The Athletic report that Wrexham are on the verge of making a deal worth a club record €2.5m.

Wrexham ready to welcome Cacace

“Libby is a player we have looked at,” Wrexham coach Phil Parkinson told reporters ahead of a pre-season friendly against New Zealand’s Wellington Phoenix.

“It isn’t finalised, as of yet. But I have spoken to Libby and love his character and personality. If we can get the signing completed, he is a player who will fit in with the culture we have created at Wrexham.”

Cacace has 86 Serie A appearances under his belt, where he scored two goals and provided five assists.

As for Wrexham, the club is famous for climbing up the divisions to the Championship after seeing their experience covered extensively in a reality show.

They are also owned by Hollywood figures Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Inter make official sale and Dumfries offered to Barcelona https://football-italia.net/inter-official-sale-dumfries-offered-barcelona/ https://football-italia.net/inter-official-sale-dumfries-offered-barcelona/#comments Thu, 17 Jul 2025 15:12:15 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=903719

While Inter officially sell Franco Carboni to Empoli, Spanish reports suggest Denzel Dumfries was offered to Barcelona by agent Jorge Mendes with a €25m release clause.

This afternoon, the Nerazzurri formally announced that Franco Carboni, a 22-year-old left-back and brother to fellow Inter player Valentin Carboni, had joined Empoli on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The Argentine had been on their books since 2020 and had loan experiences at Cagliari, Monza, Ternana, River Plate, and Venezia.

Meanwhile, Sport newspaper in Spain suggest that agent Jorge Mendes proposed Dumfries to Barcelona in a recent meeting.

While the report states that Barca directors were enthusiastic about the move, it will be very difficult for them to get it over the line before the €25m release clause expires at the end of July.

The Blaugrana have other priorities right now in different areas of the squad that require reinforcement.

Last season, the 29-year-old Dutch international scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 47 competitive appearances.

Wrexham reach agreement to sign Empoli full-back Liberato Cacace https://football-italia.net/wrexham-agreement-empoli-liberato-cacace/ https://football-italia.net/wrexham-agreement-empoli-liberato-cacace/#respond Wed, 16 Jul 2025 19:12:12 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=903622

Wrexham have reached an agreement to sign Empoli left-back Liberato Cacace for a fee of €2.5 million plus bonuses, reports from Italy claim.

According to SkySport this evening, the newly-promoted EFL Championship side have completed negotiations for the 24-year-old defender after nearly four years with Empoli in Serie A.

Liberato Cacace heads to Wrexham as Empoli relegated to Serie B

Cacace played 33 times in Serie A for Empoli in the 2024-25 season but was unable to help keep the side in Italy’s top flight. He scored twice in the campaign and was one of the side’s most important players and Wrexham aim to utilise this as they prepare for their return to England’s second-flight.

The Welsh club, the subject of much international attention due to their celebrity ownership and resulting Disney+ TV documentary, will be adding an experienced player to their squad with this signing – the former Wellington Phoenix man having achieved 76 Serie A appearances and 33 caps for the New Zealand national team.

Torino continued talks with Venezia over a deal for Gaetano Oristanio on Monday, while Alberto Grassi is nearing a permanent move to Cremonese.

Torino continue to work on deals to sign Cyril Ngonge from Napoli and Oristanio from Venezia, as the Granata aim to welcome two attacking wingers this summer.

Torino resumed talks with Venezia on Monday, promising an offer for a loan deal with an option to buy, which could become an obligation to purchase under certain conditions.

Venezia value Oristanio at over €10m, but Torino hope to lower the Lagunari’s demands, while the Italian winger has given priority to a move to the Stadio Grande Torino for now.

Cagliari close in on double swoop for Inter’s Esposito and Napoli’s Folorunsho https://football-italia.net/cagliari-close-in-on-double-swoop/ https://football-italia.net/cagliari-close-in-on-double-swoop/#respond Sun, 13 Jul 2025 14:04:55 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=903131

Cagliari are closing on two transfers, with Inter forward Sebastiano Esposito and Napoli midfielder Michael Folorunsho drawing closer to the Sardinian club.

According to reports from SkySport, Tuesday 15 July will be decisive in the Rossoblu’s pursuit of the duo; with Inter and Napoli prepared to offload their fringe players in order to free up both squad space and funds for their pursuit of bigger targets.

Folorunsho spent last season on loan with Fiorentina, playing 19 times in all competitions for La Viola. Meanwhile, Esposito finished a fairly decent spell on loan with Empoli – scoring ten times in 35 appearances. The Inter man also played four times for the Nerazzurri at the recent Club World Cup.

Esposito looks set for Cagliari despite Fiorentina interest

The reports from Italy also claim that Fiorentina are interested in the Inter outcast. However, Cagliari appear to be on step ahead of the Viola, having already submitted a bid believed to be in the region of €7 million – with an additional resale percentage.

The two clubs will continue negotiations today as the Grigiorossi, promoted to Serie A last season, aim to finalise an agreement with the Azzurri.

Official: Torino purchase Anjorin from Empoli, with Chelsea making profit https://football-italia.net/official-torino-buy-anjorin-empoli-chelsea/ https://football-italia.net/official-torino-buy-anjorin-empoli-chelsea/#respond Fri, 04 Jul 2025 19:51:34 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=902084

Torino have officially completed the transfer of attacking midfielder Tino Anjorin from Empoli, but almost half the fee will go to Chelsea.

As we reported on June 27, the agreement was reached to snap up both Anjorin and his teammate Ardian Ismajli from Empoli, albeit in very different circumstances.

Anjorin was secured for circa €5m, while defender Ismajli is a free agent after his contract with Empoli was allowed to run down.

Officially, this is a loan with option to buy if certain circumstances are met, but it is believed to be a very easy clause to activate.

The deal with Toro runs to June 2028, with an option to extend for a further year.

Torino another Serie A experience for Anjorin

The 23-year-old is a product of the Chelsea youth academy who had loan spells for the likes of Huddersfield and Portsmouth before his free move to Empoli in August 2024.

As part of that agreement, the Stamford Bridge side would be owed up to 50 per cent of the sell-on fee.

According to reports, they will get 40 per cent of the €5m price paid by Torino, so that is €3m.

Anjorin contributed two goals and three assists in 22 Serie A appearances for Empoli last season, but was unable to prevent their relegation to Serie B.

As expected, free agent Adrian Ismajli will finalise his three-year contract with Torino, without waiting to see if Saul Coco decides on a move to Qatar.

The former Empoli defender had accepted the destination back on June 26, but only over the last 24 hours has the club agreed to go forward and conclude the move.

There had been delays waiting on the decision of Torino defender Saul Coco on a proposal from Al-Duhail, but Toro did not want to risk losing Ismajli in the process.

The 28-year-old Albania international has been in Italy since leaving Hajduk Split for Spezia in 2020, moving to Empoli for €2m in the summer of 2021.

He has amassed 117 Serie A appearances, with one goal and two assists.

Serie A transfers: Three clubs target Esposito, Como want two centre-backs https://football-italia.net/serie-a-transfers-3-clubs-esposito-2-como-cb/ https://football-italia.net/serie-a-transfers-3-clubs-esposito-2-como-cb/#respond Thu, 03 Jul 2025 08:48:00 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901786

Cagliari and Parma have inquired about Inter striker Sebastiano Esposito, who remains a concrete target for Fiorentina, while Celta Vigo’s Carl Starfelt and Milan’s Malick Thiaw are among Como’s priorities in defence.

Inter striker Sebastiano Esposito is destined to leave the Nerazzurri this summer and has attracted interest from Serie A clubs Parma, Fiorentina and Cagliari.

The Sardinians were the latest club to sound out the availability of the ex-Empoli striker, according to sources with direct knowledge of the matter.

The promising centre-forward remains a concrete target for Fiorentina, despite Albert Gudmundsson’s permanent transfer and the club’s desire to retain Moise Kean.

Esposito’s contract with Inter runs out in June 2026.

As for Como, the Azzurri remain interested in Celta Vigo centre-back Starfelt, who is valued at more than €10m.

Cesc Fabregas is an admirer of the Swedish defender, who is not an alternative to Thiaw, given that Como want to sign two centre-backs this summer and would be glad to get both.

Celta value Starfelt at €10m plus add-ons, but Como hope to secure the player’s signature for a lower fee, so talks are still ongoing.

Official: Viti completes transfer to Fiorentina from OGC Nice https://football-italia.net/official-viti-completes-transfer-to-fiorentina/ https://football-italia.net/official-viti-completes-transfer-to-fiorentina/#respond Tue, 01 Jul 2025 18:45:10 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901584

Fiorentina have officially signed defender Mattia Viti from OGC Nice on loan with option to buy after his spell with Empoli.

The centre-back underwent his medical tests this afternoon and put pen to paper on the contract.

“When I found out that Fiorentina were interested, I immediately told my family. It didn’t seem real,” Viti told reporters at the Viola Park training centre.

“I love the centre of Florence, it’s a city I grew up in, and I can’t wait to play at the Stadio Franchi.”

Although born in the Borgo San Lorenzo area of Florence in January 2002, Viti came up through the Empoli youth academy and was sold to OGC Nice for €13m in 2022.

He returned to Serie A twice for loans with Sassuolo and most recently Empoli, where so is now back in Italy again for the Viola.

The news was broken by Football Italia’s own Alfredo Pedullà back on June 22.

It is a loan with option to buy for circa €5m, plus a 10 per cent cut of the future transfer fee.

Fiorentina have been very active on the transfer market, also bringing in free agent Edin Dzeko and Viti’s former Empoli teammate Jacopo Fazzini.

How much Chelsea will earn from Anjorin sale to Torino https://football-italia.net/how-much-chelsea-will-earn-anjorin-sale-torino/ https://football-italia.net/how-much-chelsea-will-earn-anjorin-sale-torino/#respond Sat, 28 Jun 2025 13:32:23 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=900664

More details are emerging on the Torino agreement for Tino Anjorin, as Empoli must give 40 per cent of the €5m fee to his old club Chelsea.

As reported last night, the deal is done to snap up both Anjorin and his Empoli teammate Ardian Ismajli, who is a free agent after his contract was allowed to run down.

Sky Sport Italia now clarify that Torino are going to pay circa €5m to buy the attacking midfielder.

Empoli are still making a healthy profit, but as part of the agreement that saw them snap up the player last year for free, they will owe his former club Chelsea a 40 per cent cut of the fee.

That means the Tuscans are set to pocket €3m and Chelsea will get €2m from the sale.

A product of the Chelsea youth academy, Anjorin also played for Lokomotiv Moscow, Huddersfield and Portsmouth before moving to Italy.

He scored two goals with three assists in 22 Serie A games this season, but could not prevent Empoli’s relegation.

The English player is seen as the heir to Milan-bound Samuele Ricci.

Torino double deal for Empoli pair Anjorin and Ismajli https://football-italia.net/torino-double-deal-empoli-pair-anjorin-ismajli/ https://football-italia.net/torino-double-deal-empoli-pair-anjorin-ismajli/#respond Fri, 27 Jun 2025 21:27:06 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=900595

Torino have reportedly agreed terms for two Empoli players following their relegation, picking up Ardian Ismajli for free and Tino Anjorin.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a deal has been reached with both the club and attacking midfielder Anjorin to complete the transfer.

The 23-year-old former Under-20 England international had been linked with numerous sides since Empoli’s relegation, including Fiorentina, Bologna and Roma.

He would seem to be heading for Torino, where he is seen as the replacement for Milan-bound Samuele Ricci.

The Tuscans will have to give half the fee over to his previous club Chelsea, as part of the agreement sealed when he made the move for free in 2024.

Anjorin had many injury problems this season and only made 22 Serie A appearances, but still contributed two goals and three assists in that time.

Meanwhile, Torino had already agreed personal terms with Ismajli, who is a free agent after his contract was allowed to run down.

They were keeping him on hold until Saul Coco’s departure, although that seems to have been stalled by his difficulties agreeing terms with Al-Duhail.

Fiorentina have officially completed the purchase of Italy Under-21 international Jacopo Fazzini from Empoli for a reported €10m plus bonuses.

The deal had been done last week and he finalised the medical tests today before putting pen to paper on the five-year contract.

According to reports, the agreement was reached for circa €10m plus add-ons.

The 22-year-old had been participating in the European Under-21 Championship with Italy and was also linked with the likes of Torino and Bologna this summer.

However, Fiorentina completed the swoop for the creative midfielder.

A product of the Empoli youth academy, he was given his top flight debut at the age of 19.

He made 22 appearances this season between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, contributing six goals and one assist.

There were repeated muscular problems that stalled his progress, and he was unable to stop Empoli’s relegation to Serie B.

Fiorentina give Fazzini medical and are ready for Pioli https://football-italia.net/fiorentina-give-fazzini-medical-ready-pioli/ https://football-italia.net/fiorentina-give-fazzini-medical-ready-pioli/#comments Wed, 25 Jun 2025 16:09:29 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=900132

Empoli midfielder Jacopo Fazzini underwent his Fiorentina medical today, ready to complete the deal worth €10m plus bonuses, while Stefano Pioli officially leaves Al-Nassr.

As Football Italia’s own Alfredo Pedullà had reported last week, the agreement was reached between the two clubs for the talented midfielder.

The full cost of the operation is expected to be a €10m fixed fee plus add-ons.

Fiorentina confirmed the news by publishing photographs of the player attending his medical at the Viola Park centre.

The 22-year-old had been participating in the European Under-21 Championship with Italy.

Officially, the team is currently without a coach after Raffaele Palladino resigned, but Pioli agreed terms weeks ago and simply had to first extricate himself from his contract with Al-Nassr.

That was made official with a statement from the Saudi Pro League side earlier today.

“Al Nassr Club Company informs that Mr Pioli and his Staff are no more the acting coaching staff of the first team. We would like to thank Mr Pioli and his staff for their dedicated work during the past season.”
