Bondo close to leaving Milan on loan after six months, partly due to Musah and Napoli https://football-italia.net/bondo-close-to-leaving-milan-after-six-months/ https://football-italia.net/bondo-close-to-leaving-milan-after-six-months/#respond Mon, 04 Aug 2025 13:58:14 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906297

Warren Bondo is on the verge of joining newly-promoted Serie A side Cremonese on loan for the 2025-26 season, which is partly due to the breakdown in negotiations between the Rossoneri and Napoli for Yunus Musah, according to Monday’s reports.

Milan allow Bondo to leave six months after joining from Monza

Bondo moved to San Siro from nearby Monza in a deal worth a reported €10m in the final hours of the winter transfer window, arriving at the same time as former loanees Joao Felix and Riccardo Sottil

However, just six months and four Serie A appearances into his Milan tenure, Bondo is close to leaving on a season-long loan deal.

Cremonese are set to secure the 21-year-old’s services on a straight loan deal with no options to buy included, as Milan still rate the France youth international highly and see him playing a bigger role in the first-team later down the line, according to Calciomercato.com

Part of the reason why Milan are willing to let Bondo leave on loan just six months after they sign him is due to the healthy competition in Massimiliano Allegri’s midfield ranks.

This summer has brought the arrivals of former Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, plus Italy international Samuele Ricci, adding to a department that already included Youssouf Fofana, Yunus Musah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Bondo, and, Milan are still targeting the signing of Club Brugge’s Ardon Jashari.

Monday’s report claims that Bondo might have been kept in and around the Milan first team for the 2025-26 season had it not been for the breakdown in talks between the Rossoneri and Napoli for Musah, who currently looks set to stay on under Allegri.

Millot and Al-Ahli push Atletico Madrid towards Napoli’s Raspadori https://football-italia.net/millot-al-ahli-help-atleti-towards-raspadori/ https://football-italia.net/millot-al-ahli-help-atleti-towards-raspadori/#respond Mon, 04 Aug 2025 13:24:22 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906292

Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli reportedly have an agreement in place for the signing of VfB Stuttgart attacking midfielder Enzo Millot, which could steer Atletico Madrid towards the signing of Italy international Giacomo Raspadori from Napoli.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Al-Ahli have verbal agreements with both Millot and Stuttgart, despite previous links with Atleti and Premier League side Tottenham.

What Millot deal means for Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Raspadori

As Atletico are now expected to miss out on the signing of the 23-year-old, reports indicate that their attention will revert to a different target in Raspadori. The Italy international, along with Millot and Juventus’s Nico Gonzalez, have been mentioned in recent reports as potential attacking additions for Diego Simeone’s side.

According to updates from Calciomercato.com, Raspadori’s have recently travelled to Spain to hold discussions with Atletico Madrid.

Curiously, Raspadori is managed by TMP Soccer, the same agency as compatriot Matteo Ruggeri, who has also joined Atletico Madrid in a permanent deal this summer after well over a decade with Atalanta.

With Millot out of the picture, Atletico are expected to push forwards with an attempt to sign Raspadori, according to Calciomercato’s report.

Napoli, meanwhile, have no real intention to sell, but could reportedly be tempted by offers in the region of €35m.

Percassi confirms: Two conditions for Lookman to leave Atalanta, but not for Inter https://football-italia.net/two-conditions-for-lookman-to-leave-atalanta/ https://football-italia.net/two-conditions-for-lookman-to-leave-atalanta/#comments Mon, 04 Aug 2025 12:55:24 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906284

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has confirmed that the club have an agreement to allow Ademola Lookman to leave this summer, but not for teams within Serie A, which further complicates proceedings with Inter, who had a reasonable bid for the Nigeria international rejected last week.

Lookman has come to blows with Atalanta after seeing an offer of €45m including bonuses from Inter turned down by his current employers.

The 27-year-old has since posted a long statement on Instagram, claiming that there was an agreement to allow him to leave this summer, and accusing the club of treating him poorly “as a human being and as a professional footballer.”

Lookman has also confirmed that he has submitted a formal transfer request in an attempt to leave Atalanta.

Dea CEO Percassi has since had an opportunity to share his version of events while speaking to the media at the introductory press conference for new Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello.

Percassi told the press that there is an agreement to let Lookman leave this summer, but with two important conditions: First being that it is to a ‘top’ European club, and the second being that that club is outside Serie A.

“It’s a good opportunity to clarify what happened,” Percassi told the media, via TMW

“Last year, after a 20 million offer from PSG, the player had asked us to be sold.

“Atalanta, being a credible club, had promised to sell the player this window based on two conditions that he himself had asked of us: First, to go to a super, top European club, and that he would never be seen in Italy wearing a shirt other than Atalanta’s, given what he did for the club and what he received from the club.

“Today, as you know, the situation is very different. The club is always careful when evaluating the value and timing of its players, but as always, it is Atalanta, the club, that decides.”

Various outlets in Italy are reporting that Roma are attempting to close a surprise deal for 20-year-old Legia Warsaw defender Jan Ziolkowski, who has also been linked with a move to join fellow Serie A side Udinese.

Reports Roma closing in on Ziolkowski deal

The Giallorossi are in contact with representatives from Legia Warsaw to discuss a deal for the Poland U20 international, according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio

Updates confirm that Roma will speak with Legia Warsaw again on Monday afternoon in an attempt to close a deal for the promising young centre-back.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Udinese are also among the clubs interested in signing Ziolkowski this summer, but Di Marzio claims that the proposal from Kosta Runjaic’s side has since been turned down.

Stood at 6’4 in height, Ziolkowski is a traditional centre-back, and is coming in off the back of his first full season in senior football, during which he made 28 appearances across all competitions for the Legia first team.

Juventus and Napoli transfers leave Darwin Nunez open for Inzaghi and Al-Hilal https://football-italia.net/darwin-open-for-al-hilal-after-juventus-napoli/ https://football-italia.net/darwin-open-for-al-hilal-after-juventus-napoli/#respond Mon, 04 Aug 2025 12:18:44 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906275

A series of transfer decisions involving Juventus, Napoli and Victor Osimhen leaves Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez as an increasingly possible option for Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

Darwin Nunez left looking at Saudi option after Juventus and Napoli decisions

The Uruguay international has been on Al-Hilal’s shopping list for close to two months, dating back to the beginning of June.

There had also been genuine interest in the former Benfica striker from a number of clubs in Serie A, most notably Napoli in their hunt for new attacking additions, and Juventus, who have not yet completed their centre-forward department for the 2025-26 season.

Napoli, however, have since brought in Lorenzo Lucca at a cost of around €35m, while Juventus are focused on bringing Randal Kolo Muani back in from Paris Saint-Germain.

Simone Inzaghi’s Al-Hilal have also missed out on one of their prime targets in former Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who has since moved back to Galatasaray on a permanent deal

Darwin Nunez, meanwhile, has been holding out for a move to Europe, but nothing has materialised thus far.

The forward, who is increasingly likely to leave Liverpool this summer, has recently been involved in discussions with Al-Hilal head coach, Inzaghi, Football Italia understands.

As things stand, the Saudi Pro League option is becoming increasingly concrete for Darwin.

From PSG to Inter: How Lookman came to blows with Atalanta https://football-italia.net/how-lookman-came-to-blows-with-atalanta/ https://football-italia.net/how-lookman-came-to-blows-with-atalanta/#respond Mon, 04 Aug 2025 11:54:06 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906272

Monday’s front pages described the relationship between Atalanta and Ademola Lookman as ‘completely ruptured’ following the 27-year-old’s decision to hand in a transfer request and to release a damning statement on his treatment by the club on social media, but how and why has the situation got to this stage and what happens next for the African Player of the Year?

What happened with Lookman and Atalanta?

Lookman has been subject of transfer interest from 2025 Champions League finalists Inter, who have recently seen a bid of €45m including bonuses turned down by Atalanta. La Dea, meanwhile, have stood firm with their valuation of €50m.

After seeing Inter’s most recent bid turned down, Lookman took to Instagram to release a statement sharing his version of events and explaining why he has decided to submit a formal transfer request.

The former Fulham, Leicester, Everton and RB Leipzig forward believes that “it is the right time to move on and experience a new adventure,” but has accused Atalanta of “blocking the opportunity for reasons I do not understand.”

MILAN, ITALY - APRIL 20: Ademola Lookman of Atalanta reacts during the Serie A match between AC Milan and Atalanta at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on April 20, 2025 in Milan, Italy. (Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images)

He went on to suggest that there have been “many months of broken promises,” and that he has received “poor treatment both as a human being and as a professional footballer.”

Why is Lookman so frustrated at Atalanta?

Despite impressing in the early stages of his career with Charlton Athletic, before going on to score against Manchester City on his Premier League debut with Everton, it took Lookman a while to get settled at senior level.

His early 20s were spent in-and-out of the first-team picture with Everton and later RB Leipzig, and they had to settle for a series of loan moves to Fulham and then Leicester City.

That is before Atalanta took a punt for a fee of around €15m in 2022. He has since gone on to provide 23 goal involvements from 33 appearances in his first season, 27 from 45 in 2023-24, which included an historic hat-trick in the Europa League final, and then another 27 goal involvements in the season just gone.

Having helped Atalanta to their first ever European silverware, and providing a reliable source of goals and creativity over the last few years, it is no wonder that the Nigeria international has attracted interest over the past two summers.

And, at the age of 27, this may be the final opportunity for Lookman to secure a ‘big’ contract at one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Last summer, it was Paris Saint-Germain who had stepped forwards with a proposal. Atalanta were left furious, however, as PSG reportedly approached the player first, rather than the club.

Despite the fact that Lookman had agreed personal terms with the Parisians, a move never materialised, which led to a delicate relationship between the player, club and coach in the first part of the 2024-25 campaign.

Now, one year down the line, it is Inter who are making attempts to sign Lookman from Atalanta.

This summer, La Dea are seeking a fee of €50m. Inter’s most recent bid came to €42m with €3m in bonuses, which was turned down. This is what led to Lookman’s outburst on social media over the weekend.

In his recent Instagram post, Lookman claimed that there was an agreement that Atalanta would allow him to move on if an appropriate offer came in. He clearly feels that the €45m bid from Inter was reasonable, and is now bemused as to why the offer was rejected.

It remains to be seen what the next steps are for the club or for the player.

Milan expecting Modric arrival and first duties after Real Madrid exit https://football-italia.net/milan-expecting-modric-arrival-nd-first-duties/ https://football-italia.net/milan-expecting-modric-arrival-nd-first-duties/#respond Mon, 04 Aug 2025 11:21:31 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906270

Luka Modric is set to arrive in Milan on Monday and begin his first contractual obligations as a new Rossoneri player following his departure from Real Madrid after 13 years earlier this summer.

When will Modric begin life with Milan?

The veteran midfielder has signed a one-year contract with Milan, but has not yet teamed up with the rest of Massimiliano Allegri’s squad, as he was given an extended break following Real Madrid’s run to the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final in July.

As per Gianluca Di Marzio, Modric is expected to arrive in Milan on Monday, and as reported over the weekend, the 39-year-old is due to speak to the press later in the afternoon, at around 17.00 local time (16.00 BST).

Modric is then expected to head to the flagship Milan store on Via Dante once his press conference is complete. There, he will take some pictures and is expected to be greeted by a large crowd of supporters.

Modric is then expected to begin his first physical tests as a Milan player on Tuesday morning at the club’s training ground. Then, in the afternoon, he is set to join in with first-team training for the first time.

Allegri has given the Milan players three days off following their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia, which resulted in a 1-0 loss against Arsenal, an encouraging 4-2 win over Premier League champions Liverpool and a 9-0 hammering of Perth Glory in Australia.

The Rossoneri have two more pre-season friendlies in their calendar, scheduled for this coming weekend against Leeds United in Dublin and then against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The season proper will get underway with a Coppa Italia first round clash at home against Bari on August 17, and then comes a the first Serie A match of the season against newly-promoted Cremonese on August 24.

Juventus identify Crystal Palace-linked defender as potential replacement for Weah https://football-italia.net/juventus-identify-girona-defender-after-weah/ https://football-italia.net/juventus-identify-girona-defender-after-weah/#comments Mon, 04 Aug 2025 10:52:57 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906266

Monday’s reports claim that Juventus are interested in pursuing a deal for Girona right-back Arnau Martinez, who has also been linked with Premier League side Crystal Palace, as the Bianconeri look for a new wide player to replace the outgoing Timothy Weah.

According to reports from various outlets, including Tuttosport, Juventus are keen on a deal for versatile 22-year-old defender Martinez, who is capable of playing as a right-back in a back four, at wing-back and on the right of a back three if required.

Martinez, who spent six years on Barcelona’s books as a youngster, could be allowed to leave his current club, Girona, this summer. He currently has two years remaining on his contract, which runs until 2027.

Monday’s reports claim that a bid in the region of €10m-€12m could be enough to get a deal done.

Tuttosport claims that Martinez had also been of interest to Milan this transfer window, but the Rossoneri now appear to be closing in on an agreement with Young Boys for Swiss full-back Zachary Athekame instead.

Juventus have already brought in a new right-back in Joao Mario this summer, but Igor Tudor is short on options at full-back, particularly on the right hand side.

Juve will be one option shorter at full-back once Timothy Weah completes his move to Olympique de Marseille. Reports over the weekend claimed that there is now an agreement in place over a loan deal with an obligation to buy for a total cost of around €18m.

Atalanta supporters have responded to Ademola Lookman’s attempt to force a move away from the club with a strong message displayed on a banner that has been erected near to the team’s training ground.

Nigeria international Lookman has formally submitted a transfer request in an attempt to force through a move to Inter.

The reigning African Player of the Year also sent out a long and damning Instagram post on Sunday, accusing Atalanta of breaking promises and insisting that he ‘doesn’t understand’ why the club are refusing to sell him.

Inter had recently seen a bid of €45m, which included a guaranteed fixed fee of €42m, rejected by Atalanta, who have been holding out for their asking price of €50m. La Dea are in no rush to sell and have no immediate need to raise funds following the profitable sale of Mateo Retegui to Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah.

Atalanta supporters have since had their say on the matter. Some fans elected to erect a banner near to the club’s training ground not long after Lookman’s Instagram post went online, reading: “Enough now. Shameful agents and ungrateful players. Respect the supporters who gave you value.”

The banner was reportedly organised and put up by the Ultras group ‘Forever Atalanta until the end’.

Man City talent Echeverri drops social media clue over Roma move https://football-italia.net/echeverri-drops-social-media-clue-roma-move/ https://football-italia.net/echeverri-drops-social-media-clue-roma-move/#respond Mon, 04 Aug 2025 09:09:05 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906246

Manchester City talent Claudio Echeverri has dropped a clue that he could be set to join Roma by leaving a comment on a recent post by current Giallorossi forward Matias Soule.

Roma, who are still looking to bring in multiple attacking reinforcements this window, are closing in on the signing of 19-year-old Argentina talent Echeverri on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.

The Giallorossi also have Fabio Silva, Nene and Antonio Nusa among their list of potential attacking additions.

Echeverri keen on Roma loan, Man City reluctant to sell

Echeverri, who also has options to join Man City’s sister club Girona on loan, as well as reported opportunities in France, is reportedly keen to join Roma.

He recently dropped a hint by commenting ‘Topp Amigo’ on the latest Instagram post from Roma forward and compatriot Soule, on a series of pictures from Roma’s recent 2-0 pre-season friendly victory over Lens.

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Man City have presented Echeverri with a plan that involved joining Girona on loan for the 2025-26 season, before hopefully breaking into the first-team picture on a regular basis at the Premier League club for 2026-27.

However, Echeverri would reportedly like to play in either the Champions League or Europa League in 2025-26, which makes Roma an enticing option.

Man City are adamant that they will only let the teenager leave on a straight loan deal for 2025-26, however Roma are reportedly hoping to include some form of option to buy, which could complicate negotiations.

Jovic set for new opportunity after leaving Milan as free agent https://football-italia.net/jovic-set-for-new-opportunity-after-milan/ https://football-italia.net/jovic-set-for-new-opportunity-after-milan/#respond Mon, 04 Aug 2025 08:32:49 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906244

Monday’s reports claim that Luka Jovic has found a new club after leaving Milan as a free agent at the end of his contract earlier this summer.

Reports Jovic set to join AEK Athens after Milan

According to reports from Spanish outlet Marca, the former Eintracht Frankfurt and Real Madrid striker is set to sign for AEK Athens of Super League Greece in what will be a free transfer.

The 27-year-old had multiple options, however, as Real Oviedo, who earned promotion to LaLiga at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, had also been making attempts to bring the Serbia international back to Spain.

However, as per Marca, Jovic was left unconvinced by the Real Oviedo project, and was much more sold by the idea of joining AEK, who reportedly submitted an offer over the weekend.

He is now on his way over to Athens to complete the formalities of his move.

Jovic finished his Milan career with a tally of 13 goals from 47 appearances across all competitions during his two year spell in San Siro. Eight of those came in Serie A, four in the Coppa Italia and one in the Champions League.

Sunday’s reports claim that Nigeria international Ademola Lookman has formally submitted a transfer request, as he attempts to force through a move to join Cristian Chivu’s Inter.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Lookman has now formally requested to leave Atalanta, who have recently rejected a bid of €45m including add-ons for the reigning African Player of the Year.

Romano adds that the player’s desire is to join Inter this summer. The frustrated 27-year-old has recently removed all traces of his association with Atalanta from his social media profiles.

Atalanta remain adamant that it will take a fee of €50m to sign the Nigeria international this summer. Inter’s most recent offer reportedly stood at €42m plus €3m in bonuses, which has not been accepted.

It remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri will come back in with an improved offer for the former Leicester, Fulham and Everton forward.

Recent reports claim that Inter have already opened talks with Chelsea for Christopher Nkunku, who is seen as the first-choice alternative to Lookman this summer.

Ipswich face Saudi competition to sign Cajuste from Napoli https://football-italia.net/ipswich-face-saudi-competition-to-sign-cajuste/ https://football-italia.net/ipswich-face-saudi-competition-to-sign-cajuste/#respond Sun, 03 Aug 2025 11:12:17 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906152

Sunday’s reports claim that Neom SC of the Saudi Pro League could be set to rival Championship side Ipswich Town for the signing of Napoli midfielder Jens Cajuste, who is expected to leave the Stadio Maradona this summer.

Reports Neom SC submit offer for Ipswich-linked Cajuste

Cajuste spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Portman Road with Ipswich for their Premier League campaign, and has been linked with a return to East Anglia as Kieran McKenna and his team aim for an immediate return to the English top flight.

As Football Italia reported earlier this week, Cajuste has had interest from a number of different clubs in multiple countries.

Now, according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Neom SC, who earned promotion to the Saudi Pro League at the end of the 2024-25 season, have stepped forwards with a proposal to sign Cajuste from Napoli.

According to Sunday’s report, Neom are prepared to offer a fee of €2.5m to sign Cajuste on loan for the season with an option to buy clause for a further €8m. Neom would also be prepared to pay a penalty fee of an additional €2.5m in the event that they do not activate their buy option.

Milan closing in on Athekame deal with Young Boys https://football-italia.net/milan-closing-in-on-athekame-deal-young-boys/ https://football-italia.net/milan-closing-in-on-athekame-deal-young-boys/#comments Sun, 03 Aug 2025 10:59:30 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906149

Sunday’s reports claim that Milan have settled on Young Boys defender Zachary Athekame at right-back and that the Rossoneri are expecting to close a deal with the Swiss outfit in the near future.

Milan, who sent Kyle Walker back to Manchester City after his loan spell, and have since sold Emerson Royal to Flamengo, are on the hunt for a new right-back to compete and rotate with the versatile Alex Jimenez.

The Rossoneri had initially explored a deal for Strasbourg’s Guela Doue, the elder brother of PSG star Desire Doue, but were reportedly put off by the requested €30m price tag for the Frenchman.

That has left Igli Tare and the Rossoneri recruitment team exploring alternative options. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the search has landed on Athekame.

The Pink Paper claims that Milan submitted an offer of €7m for the 20-year-old right-back on Saturday.

The Switzerland youth international, who is of Nigerian descent, has also been subject of interest from Vincenzo Italiano’s Bologna and Kosta Runjaic’s Udinese.

Milan, however, are confident that they will be able to strike a deal with Young Boys in the near future.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that the Swiss side will request a slightly higher fee than the €7m that has been offered, but that there is not a massive gap between the bid and the asking price.

Juventus have agreement to sell Weah to Marseille after increased offer https://football-italia.net/juventus-have-weah-agreement-with-marseille/ https://football-italia.net/juventus-have-weah-agreement-with-marseille/#respond Sun, 03 Aug 2025 10:14:49 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906143

Reports on Sunday morning claim that Juventus and Olympique de Marseille have a verbal agreement in place over the sale of USMNT forward Timothy Weah after an increased offer from the Ligue 1 side.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Marseille have an agreement in place to sign Weah on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy at a later date.

Sunday’s report claims that Marseille will pay Juventus a fee of €1m to bring the 25-year-old on board for the 2025-26 season, and that they will then pay a further €14m plus up to €3m in bonuses to make the move permanent.

Reports Juventus set to sell Weah to Marseille

The agreement comes despite recent reports that Marseille were reluctant to improve upon their recent offer of €13m to buy Weah outright.

Juventus general manager Damien Comolli has recently admitted that Weah ‘wants to join Marseille’ but that nothing could be done until an appropriate offer came in.

Weah, who has spent the majority of his senior career in Ligue 1 with PSG and Lille, had also turned down the opportunity to join Nottingham Forest in the Premier League earlier this summer.

Report Adli and Bennacer turn down moves away from Milan https://football-italia.net/adli-bennacer-reject-moves-away-from-milan/ https://football-italia.net/adli-bennacer-reject-moves-away-from-milan/#respond Sun, 03 Aug 2025 09:56:07 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906140

Sunday’s reports claim that unwanted Milan midfielders Ismael Bennacer and Yacine Adli have both turned down proposals to leave San Siro this summer, but both remain out of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans for the forthcoming season.

Neither Bennacer nor Adli were included in Allegri’s squad for Milan’s recent pre-season tour of Asia and Australia, which brought a 1-0 defeat by Arsenal, an encouraging 4-2 win over Premier League champions Liverpool and a 9-0 hammering of Perth Glory

Adli is now into the final year of his contract in San Siro, while Bennacer has another two years left to run on his deal, which is set to expire in the summer of 2027. Neither are expected to play a role for the Rossoneri in 2025-26, though.

Bennacer and Adli turn down opportunities away from Milan

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com), both players have recently rejected proposals to leave Milan this summer.

Sunday’s report claims that Bennacer has snubbed interest from the Saudi Pro League, as he would prefer to continue in Europe.

Adli, who is currently training with the Milan Futuro squad, has also reportedly said no to interest from Russia, although Sassuolo and Hellas Verona both remain viable options for the Frenchman.

Sunday’s report claims that Milan have missed out on €35m as a result of Adli and Bennacer turning down the aforementioned moves, citing a fee of €20m for Bennacer and €15m for Adli, however, reports elsewhere claim that the proposed fees were significantly lower, potentially in the region of €10m for the Algerian

Done deal: Fiorentina have everything in place for Sohm transfer https://football-italia.net/done-deal-sohm-all-set-for-fiorentina/ https://football-italia.net/done-deal-sohm-all-set-for-fiorentina/#respond Sun, 03 Aug 2025 09:21:06 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906137

Simon Sohm will become a new Fiorentina player, as La Viola have everything in place with Parma and on personal terms with the one-cap Switzerland international.

As Football Italia reported earlier this week, Fiorentina have been pursuing a deal for Parma midfielder Sohm. Fiorentina’s interest dates back to July 7, but have reached a breakthrough after Parma agreed to drop their initial asking price for the 24-year-old.

Now, just shy of a month after Sohm was initially offered to the Viola, everything appears to be in place for his permanent transfer.

Fiorentina are expected to pay a fee of €15m plus €1m in bonuses for the former Zurich midfielder, plus a 5% cut of any future profits.

Sohm himself  will sign a multi-year contract worth €1.2m per season in wages, plus bonuses.

The documents needed to formally complete the transfer are now being exchanged, and visits for medicals and contract signings are expected to take place within the next 48 hours.

Bergomi recommends Inter sign one more player as well as Lookman: ‘physical players’ https://football-italia.net/bergomi-recommends-inter-sign-one-more-player/ https://football-italia.net/bergomi-recommends-inter-sign-one-more-player/#respond Sun, 03 Aug 2025 09:04:28 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906134

Legendary former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi believes that the Nerazzurri need to sign one more player on top of Atalanta star Ademola Lookman if they are to have a properly balanced squad under Cristian Chivu in 2025-26.

Inter remain locked in negotiations with Atalanta for Lookman. La Dea are demanding a fee of €50m, while Inter’s most recent offer stood at a reported €45m including bonuses, which was turned down by the selling party.

Bergomi, speaking in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, says that there is no doubting Lookman’s quality or reliability in terms of attacking numbers, but he feels that the Nerazzurri squad could do with one more addition to complete Chivu’s squad, and has given one specific recommendation.

He also explained how he thinks Inter would line up if they are to strike a deal with Atalanta for Lookman.

Bergomi tells Inter how to set up with Lookman

“Thuram on the right, Lautaro up front and Lookman on the left. You can find a team in that,” Bergomi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I don’t dispute (Lookman’s) value,” he continued. “He has scored more than 50 goals in three years and is one of the best strikers in Serie A, but finding the balance is crucial.

If Inter are to line up with a front three, Bergomi points out that Chivu will need to change Inter’s structure in midfield.

“Nobody doubts it would be high quality,” Bergomi said about the prospect of a Thuram-Lautaro-Lookman front three. “But if you play those three, you would have to change the set-up in midfield.”

He later continued: “(Morten) Frendrup would be perfect. He runs, covers, recovers. You need this type of player here.

“In Genoa, in a two-man midfield, he’s covered the whole pitch for two seasons in a row. This profile would be excellent here, a la Manu Kone for Roma, or Khpehren Thuram for Juventus. Physical players.”
