Douglas Luiz reportedly apologised to Juventus, coach Igor Tudor, and his teammates, so was welcomed back to training after going AWOL last week.

The midfielder had been fined and put on the transfer market following his surprising decision not to turn up to pre-season tests as scheduled last Thursday.

The controversy spread rapidly in the media and this increased the likelihood of an imminent sale, even one that might make a loss on his €50m move from Aston Villa only a year ago.

Douglas Luiz arrived in Turin this morning with his agents for a crisis meeting with Juventus directors.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport Juventus pundit Giovanni Albanese, the result of this encounter was the player apologising to everyone involved.

That includes the Juventus chiefs, coach Tudor and his teammates, before being allowed to return to full training.

He is still on the transfer market, but the situation should be a little easier to deal with now that he has returned to base.
