Nicolò Zaniolo has returned to Galatasaray after a disappointing loan spell in Serie A in 2024-25, but who will give him another chance this season?

Once regarded as one of the most exciting Italian talents out there, ex-Roma star Zaniolo is facing, perhaps, the most challenging moment of his career.

The versatile striker has returned to Galatasaray after a disappointing one-season loan spell in Serie A in 2024-25, when he played first for Atalanta and then for Fiorentina.

However, the 26-year-old failed to fulfil his potential in Bergamo and Florence, returning to Galatasaray, where he has a contract until June 2027.

Zaniolo wasted latest chance to shine in Serie A

Zaniolo scored three goals and provided as many assists in 36 appearances across all competitions last term, but was never a regular starter for either Atalanta or Fiorentina.

The Italian striker has resumed training with Galatasaray in recent days and was even praised by the coach of the Turkish giants.

“Zaniolo is a talented player and we want to observe him closely during this preparation period,” said Okan Buruk via TMW.

“He’s working well, and everything is going the right way. He sent positive signals in terms of discipline and understanding of the game in friendlies. He’s an important element for us.”

According to TMW, Villarreal, Oviedo, Sunderland, and PSV have recently expressed interest in Zaniolo, while Flamengo have also been linked with a move for the former Roma star.

Back in 2023, Zaniolo was involved in a betting investigation alongside other Italian players, most notably Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Fagioli. However, contrary to his compatriots, Zaniolo was not banned as he proved he didn’t place bets on football games, but only played online blackjack, which is not forbidden by federal rules.

One of the most talented and controversial players of his generation, Zaniolo contributed to Roma’s 2021-22 Conference League victory thanks to a goal in the Final against Feyenoord.

Where will Zaniolo play in 2025-26?

However, in the following January, the Giallorossi sold him to Galatasaray on a permanent €15m deal, having failed to reach an agreement over his contract extension.

Zaniolo made his senior Italy debut in 2019 and has scored two goals in 19 international appearances to date.

His Azzurri career will undoubtedly be tied to achievements and performances at a club level, which is why Zaniolo needs to secure regular playing time in the 2025-26 season, finally proving himself up to expectations, regardless of his next destination.

Whether he stays or Galatasaray or leaves again, Zaniolo knows that, being 26, he may not have many other opportunities to prove his worth. The big question is: Who will give him a new chance?

Inter open talks with Chelsea outcast Nkunku after Lookman bid rejected https://football-italia.net/inter-talks-nkunku-rejected-lookman-bid/ https://football-italia.net/inter-talks-nkunku-rejected-lookman-bid/#comments Sat, 02 Aug 2025 11:57:52 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906089
Inter have reportedly resumed talks with the agents of Christopher Nkunku after Atalanta rejected their latest offer for Ademola Lookman.

Inter have resumed talks with Chelsea striker Nkunku after seeing Atalanta reject their €45m offer, including add-ons for Lookman.

La Dea have set the striker’s asking price to €50m, but while Lookman is pushing to move to San Siro, Atalanta are unwilling to lower his price tag.

Multiple sources in Italy claim that Chelsea’s Nkunku is Inter’s main alternative to Lookman and according to Calciomercato.com, the Nerazzurri directors have opened preliminary talks with the striker’s entourage in recent hours.

Gazzetta confirms Nkunku is Inter’s primary option if they fail to secure a deal for Lookman, but even Chelsea are waiting for offers for the French forward, his salary at Stamford Bridge could be an obstacle for Inter, given that Nkunku earns €6.5m, while Lookman has agreed to sign a €4.5m-a-year contract with the Serie A giants.

Bremer, David and transfer hints: three things learned from Juventus’ 2-2 draw vs. Reggiana https://football-italia.net/bremer-david-transfers-3-things-juventus-2-2/ https://football-italia.net/bremer-david-transfers-3-things-juventus-2-2/#respond Sat, 02 Aug 2025 11:43:50 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906087

Gleison Bremer returned to action after a lengthy knee injury in Juventus’ first summer friendly against Reggiana, and Jonathan David provided an assist, while Igor Tudor dropped three players on the market.

Juventus were held to a 2-2 draw by Serie B side Reggiana in their first summer friendly at Continassa, Turin, today. The match was played after just one week of training and a few hours before a trip to Germany, where the Old Lady will continue pre-season preparations in the coming days. Here’s what we learned from today’s game.

Bremer

The Brazilian centre-back made his first appearance under Igor Tudor as he had spent most of the 2024-25 season on the sidelines due to a cruciate ligament injury. Bremer started the game and played for 45 minutes, then Tudor changed the whole Juventus XI, using a 4-2-3-1 formation at times in the second half. Bremer appeared in decent shape, winning several duels in the air and pressing high up the pitch, recovering possession in the opponents’ half a couple of times. Juventus’ vulnerability on long balls and crosses in the second half confirmed Bremer will play a key role in Turin this season, but also suggested the Serie A giants may need a couple of reinforcements at the back to cope with three competitions in 2025-26.

David

Like Bremer, the Canadian striker played in the first half and looked quite sharp, with and without the ball. The excellent Reggiana goalkeeper Edoardo Motta denied him twice, but the ex-Lille forward still left his mark by providing the assist for Francisco Conceiçao’s equaliser in the first half. Dusan Vlahovic, introduced during the break, scored in the second half, but David seemed slightly more composed on the ball, especially in tight spaces, than the Serbia international during the first half.

Transfer hints

Tudor didn’t involve Douglas Luiz, Arthur and Timothy Weah, who are on the market and didn’t even go on the bench against Reggiana. The Brazilian midfielders and the American winger are not the only Juventus players tipped to leave this summer, but the others, including Vlahovic and Nico Gonzalez, played 45 minutes each. Nico started as a right wing-back and moved to the attacking midfield position at times, allowing Teun Koopmeiners to drop deep. Vlahovic showed a good attitude and was dangerous from set pieces, scoring one goal and hitting the crossbar from corner kick routines. Some players returning from loan spells were given some playing time today: Fabio Miretti and Filip Kostic in the first half, Daniele Rugani and Tiago Djaló after the break, but none of them, especially the two defenders, really impressed.

Serie B side Reggiana held Juventus to a 2-2 draw in the Bianconeri’s first summer friendly, with Francisco Conceiçao and Dusan Vlahovic on target for the Old Lady.

Juventus picked up a 2-2 draw against Serie B side Reggiana in their first summer friendly on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead after 22 minutes when Natan Girma made the most of a poor backpass from Pierre Kalulu, finding the net with a curler at the far post.

It took less than one minute for Juventus to equalise with another curler from the edge of the box, executed by Conceiçao, assisted by new signing Jonathan David.

Igor Tudor changed the Juventus’ XI entirely during the break, introducing Vlahovic, Kenan Yildiz, Khephren Thuram and Andrea Cambiaso.

Juventus played part of the second half with a 4-2-3-1 formation, while the first half formation was a classic 3-4-2-1.

Vlahovic gave Juventus the lead just a few seconds into the second half, steering the ball inside an empty net after Edoardo Motta saved a Daniele Rugani header.

Juventus looked vulnerable on long balls and crosses, and it’s no coincidence that Cedric Gondo levelled the score at minute 72 with a header.

Juventus had some big chances to win the game, but Yildiz didn’t find the target from an excellent position minutes after Reggiana’s second goal, while Vlahovic hit the crossbar from a corner kick routine.

Tudor dropped three Juventus players for Reggiana friendly

Juventus will continue their pre-season preparation in Herzogenaurach, Germany, flying off from Turin today.

The likes of Douglas Luiz, Arthur and Timothy Weah, who are not part of Juventus’ plans, were not involved in today’s friendly.

Juventus first half (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly; Nico Gonzalez, Locatelli, Miretti, Kostic; Conceicao, Koopmeiners; David.

Juventus second half (3-4-2-1): Pinsoglio; Gatti, Rugani, Djalò; Joao Mario, Thuram, McKennie, Cambiaso; Yildiz, Adzic; Vlahovic.

Sacchi warns Inter as Chivu doesn’t have ‘most difficult role’ https://football-italia.net/sacchi-inter-chivu-not-most-difficult-role/ https://football-italia.net/sacchi-inter-chivu-not-most-difficult-role/#comments Sat, 02 Aug 2025 10:52:50 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906082

Arrigo Sacchi warns Inter that they must ‘listen’ to new coach Cristian Chivu as the club has the ‘most difficult role’ after appointing their former defender.

Chivu already made his debut as the new Inter coach during the Club World Cup earlier this summer, and ex-Milan coach Sacchi urges the Nerazzurri to listen to their new manager’s idea during the current transfer window.

“It will take him months to convey his ideas and get in sync with the players,” Sacchi wrote in his latest column for Gazzetta dello Sport.

Sacchi: Chivu has a point in his favour

“He does have the advantage of knowing the environment very well, having been there both as a player and as a youth team coach. That is certainly a point in his favour.”

Inter have targeted Ademola Lookman as their priority target in attack, but Atalanta have rejected their latest offer worth €45m, including add-ons.

It is believed that the Serie A giants will also try to sign a central defender this summer, but the priority for the club will be to listen to the coach’s ideas, according to Sacchi.

“Right now, the most difficult role isn’t Chivu’s but the club’s,” warned the ex-Italian tactician.

“The coach needs the support from the management, who must help him through difficult moments, shielding him from inevitable criticism. They must also build the team he imagines by going into the market to find the players who are still missing.

Sacchi: Inter can’t ignore Chivu

“Inter must not make the mistake of ignoring the coach’s requests, as many other clubs do. Chivu knows very well who is needed and who isn’t, and within the club’s financial means, the directors have a duty to satisfy him.”

Inter will make their 2025-26 Serie A debut at home against Torino on August 25.

“There may be some early difficulties, that’s possible, but this should not be a reason to question the coach’s work,” Sacchi concluded.

“Once the team has been entrusted to him and the goals have been set together, the only thing to do is to help him reach those targets. Remember, he is the leader of the expedition, he is the one with a direct line to the players and he is the man tasked with giving the team his style of play, so his words must always be listened to.”

Inter have already signed Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique and Ange-Yoan Bonny this summer.

Milan find Doué alternative and target Hojlund – report https://football-italia.net/milan-find-doue-alternative-target-hojlund/ https://football-italia.net/milan-find-doue-alternative-target-hojlund/#respond Sat, 02 Aug 2025 10:29:45 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=906075

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Young Boys’ Zachary Athekame has emerged as the main alternative to the expensive Guéla Doué for Milan, while Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund is an option for the attack.

Milan’s pre-season tour in Asia is over, so the Rossoneri directors are now focusing on bringing in reinforcements before the official start of the season.

Ardon Jashari remains the top target in central midfield, while Guéla Doué is the priority in the right-back position.

The Frenchman, however, is valued at €30m by Strasbourg, so the Rossoneri may be forced to look elsewhere for reinforcements in that position.

According to Gazzetta, Young Boys’ Athekame is the main alternative due to his characteristics and a significantly lower price tag than Doué.

Milan also need to sign a centre-forward, and even if Vlahovic remains a top name on Milan’s agenda, the likes of Gonçalo Ramos and Hojlund are also being considered.

La Dea have just dropped their travelling squad, confirming Lookman’s absence and the return of El-Bilal Touré, who is back after a six-month loan spell at VfB Stuttgart.

Lookman suffered a calf injury two weeks ago, but it is believed that negotiations with Inter also had a role in Atalanta’s decision to leave the Nigerian striker in Bergamo.

Atalanta have set the striker’s asking price at €50m, and according to the latest reports, they are unwilling to accept the latest Inter proposal, worth €45m including add-ons.

Multiple sources claim that Inter won’t make an improved offer, while Lookman only wants to join the Serie A giants this summer.

Possible Roma move from Man City ‘ideal’ for Echeverri, says ex-River Plate Chief Scout https://football-italia.net/roma-move-ideal-echeverri-man-city-river-scout/ https://football-italia.net/roma-move-ideal-echeverri-man-city-river-scout/#respond Fri, 01 Aug 2025 14:41:54 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=905953

Daniel Brizuela, former Chief Scout of River Plate, feels that a move to Roma would suit Manchester City starlet Claudio Echeverri.

A move to Roma this summer would be “ideal” for Manchester City striker Echeverri, according to ex-River Plate Chief Scout Daniel Brizuela.

The latter spotted the Argentine’s talent over ten years ago, bringing him to the River Plate Academy.

“I discovered him during a trip to Northern Argentina, specifically to the province of Chaco. I was there to scout young players of various ages,” Brizuela told TMW.

Echeverri had ‘incredible ease in ball control’

“The first time I saw him, I understood he was a prodigy. I began following him, and when he did the trial with us, he passed it brilliantly, already showing a level of football that hinted at his high-level future.

“He had unstoppable technical skills, with incredible ease in ball control. All of this was even improved through his work in the academy. To convince him, I went to his family’s home to talk, and he came to River right away at the age of 10.

“He’s 19 now. Perhaps, I would have liked to see him stay here one more year and move to Europe even more mature, but playing for Manchester City has already made him stronger. He immediately scored at the Club World Cup. He will soon become an important player.”

The latest reports in Italy suggest Echeverri wants to join Roma on loan despite interest from Girona, who have the same owners as Manchester City.

“It would be a great move, no doubt, mainly because he has qualities that could integrate perfectly with, for example, someone like Paulo Dybala,” said Brizuela.

Roma move ‘ideal for Echeverri

(Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

“They speak the same language on the pitch, and that would add a lot to the team by increasing their offensive potential.

“Echeverri is a No.10, a classic playmaker with great talent, but he can also play very well as a support striker. He did great at River Plate and with Argentina. Generally, I think he’s the kind of player who must be given freedom, like the wind. Still, it would be up to Gasperini to observe and understand where he can perform best at Roma and in Italian football.

“I think Italian football could be ideal at this point in his career for a young talent like him. What could be better than signing a magician like him? As we say in Argentina, always give the ball to the No.10.”

Roma have set their sights on several strikers from the English Premier League this summer, having been linked with Wolves’ Fabio Silva and Brighton’s Julio Enciso.

Roma have already welcomed four new signings this summer, Wesley, Evan Ferguson, Devis Vásquez and Neil El Aynaoui, and will soon sign Daniele Ghilardi from Hellas Verona as the Italian centre-back landed in the capital to undergo medical tests on Friday.

Osimhen gave up ‘enormous’ salary to join Galatasaray from Napoli https://football-italia.net/osimhen-enormous-salary-galatasaray-napoli/ https://football-italia.net/osimhen-enormous-salary-galatasaray-napoli/#respond Fri, 01 Aug 2025 14:10:01 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=905949

Galatasaray vice president Abdullah Kavukcu says Victor Osimhen gave up ‘enormous’ offers to return to the club on a permanent transfer: ‘This is an incredible source of pride.’

Galatasaray vice president Abdullah Kavukcu says Osimhen gave up big-money offers to return to Istanbul after a one-season loan spell at the club.

Galatasaray and Napoli confirmed Osimhen’s permanent transfer in a €75m deal on Thursday.

Galatasaray ‘showed our strength’ in Osimhen negotiations

“We have never compromised our position, and we have shown our strength,” Kavukcu told Turkish media, via TMW, during a press conference on Friday.

“Thank God, we have signed Victor without creating debt for the future. This is an incredible source of pride for us all. On the contrary, we have registered Victor’s contract as capital in Galtasaray’s coffers.

“Think about it: it’s hard to express just how much, but the amount Victor gave up to come here is truly enormous. He gave up a sum no other player would ever give up, and we are happy to have him.”

Juventus and Al-Hilal had been in talks with Osimhen’s entourage before his permanent move to Galatasaray.

Back in June, the Nigeria international rejected a €30m-a-year contract offer from the Saudi side, coached by Simone Inzaghi. According to several sources, however, Osimhen would still earn €15m per season at Galatasaray, plus add-ons.

Osimhen scored 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions while on loan at Galatasaray in 2024-25.

The Nigerian star thanked Napoli on social media after his permanent move to Galatasaray was announced yesterday. The 26-year-old scored 76 goals in 133 appearances with the Partenopei, contributing to the 2022-23 Serie A title as the best scorer in the league.

Ipswich attempt to hijack Valencia move for Como striker https://football-italia.net/ipswich-attempt-hijack-valencia-deal-como-azon/ https://football-italia.net/ipswich-attempt-hijack-valencia-deal-como-azon/#respond Fri, 01 Aug 2025 13:27:43 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=905942

Ipswich Town have sent an offer for Como striker Iván Azón, trying to hijack Valencia’s move, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Championship side Ipswich Town have entered the race to sign Como striker Azon on loan, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Como were close to reaching an agreement with Valencia over the striker’s loan move, but Ipswich have now offered to sign the striker on loan with an obligation to buy to be activated in case of Premier League promotion in 2025-26.

According to the report, Valencia have offered to sign the player on a dry loan deal for the 2025-26 campaign.

Ipswich, on the other hand, have also offered an option to buy in case they don’t return to the Premier League this season, plus a heavy loan fee.

Azon, 22, joined Como in a €2m deal from Real Zaragoza in the 2025 winter transfer window.

The Spaniard didn’t get any playing time under Cesc Fabregas in the second part of the 2024-25 campaign as he was available for just six games, which he spent on the bench as an unused substitute.

The 22-year-old, however, has scored three goals in the 2025-26 pre-season with Como.

Ipswich have also shown interest in Napoli midfielder Jens Cajuste, with talks between the two clubs ongoing.

Ex-Serie A star has high De Bruyne expectations but ‘don’t understand’ Mourinho https://football-italia.net/jugovic-high-de-bruyne-expectations-mourinho/ https://football-italia.net/jugovic-high-de-bruyne-expectations-mourinho/#respond Fri, 01 Aug 2025 11:57:00 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=905923

Former Serie A star Vladimir Jugovic, a 1996 Champions League winner with Juventus, has high expectations of Kevin De Bruyne but still ‘don’t understand’ why José Mourinho didn’t believe in the Belgian star at Chelsea.

Jugovic discussed the latest transfer rumours regarding Juventus in an interview with Gazzetta, but also spoke about one of his ex-teammates in Turin, Antonio Conte.

“If Antonio stayed at Napoli, it’s because he believes he can win again,” said Jugovic.

“The signing of De Bruyne changes the balance. We are talking about a Manchester City icon, one of the best teams in the world in recent years. What I still don’t understand about De Bruyne is why Mourinho didn’t believe in him at Chelsea.”

De Bruyne joined Napoli on a free transfer after the end of his contract at Manchester City and has already begun pre-season preparations under the Italian tactician.

Luka Modrić is another star who moved to Serie A this summer, completing a free transfer to Milan.

“Back in the Berlusconi era, Modric would have arrived at 20 or 21, but it will still be interesting to see a highly decorated champion like the former Real Madrid star in Serie A,” Jugovic concluded.

Jugovic advises Juventus against signing Tonali, sees message with rejected Chelsea offer https://football-italia.net/jugovic-tonali-signing-juventus-chelsea-offer/ https://football-italia.net/jugovic-tonali-signing-juventus-chelsea-offer/#respond Fri, 01 Aug 2025 11:46:53 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=905917

Former Juventus star Vladimir Jugovic believes the Bianconeri should try to revive Teun Koopmeiners’ career rather than chasing other midfielders like Sandro Tonali and feels the Serie A giants put ‘more responsibility’ on Kenan Yildiz after rejecting an offer from Chelsea.

Former Juventus midfielder Jugovic believes the Old Lady should not lose hope in Koopmeiners despite the Dutchman’s poor debut season in Turin.

The Bianconeri had been linked with a move for Newcastle midfielder Tonali, but Jugovic believes the Bianconeri should rely on Koopmeiners instead.

“Tonali is a complete player, but I don’t know how feasible it is to go after a Premier League player at this time. I would go for another name instead,” he told Gazzetta.

“Juventus already have an all-around player like Koopmeiners, who was bought just a year ago for over €50m. At Atalanta, he was a regular starter, even in central midfield. I would strongly push for a revival of Koop, paired with Thuram. The Frenchman has interesting qualities, but at Juventus, two things matter: consistency and winning. I was sold after losing a Champions League Final against Borussia Dortmund. Back then, finishing second was considered a disaster.”

Juventus are still expected to make some changes in midfield and are in talks with several Premier League clubs for Douglas Luiz, who has returned to training at Continassa after missing the first days of the pre-season without the club’s consent.

“It was an unacceptable incident for a professional. I don’t know how Luciano Moggi would have handled it,” said Jugovic.

“Maybe he wouldn’t even have signed Douglas Luiz at all. Moggi paid attention to the mentality, not just performance on the pitch. It’s no coincidence that he often bet on players who were accustomed to winning. Vialli had won with Sampdoria, Ferrara with Napoli, I had won with Red Star, Deschamps with Marseille and Zidane…was Zidane, a phenomenon.”

Gazzetta reported last week that Juventus had rejected an offer close to €80m for their talent Yildiz.

“There were no untouchable players when I used to play, and we still won. Think of the sales of Boksic, Vieri, Zidane,” Jugovic noted.

“By rejecting Chelsea’s offer, the management put even more responsibility on Yildiz’s shoulders.”

As for Dusan Vlahovic, who is looking for an escape route from the Allianz Stadium, Jugovic said: “I hope a solution is found quickly, for everyone’s good. It’s a chapter that needs to be closed. The rest are personal choices.”

The Brazilian has recently resumed training with the rest of the team after missing the first days of pre-season without the club’s consent.

Tuttosport maintains that Juventus aim for a permanent €40m transfer after signing the player in a €50m deal last year.

Forest, however, have only discussed a loan deal with an option to buy in a transfer package worth €32/33m, so talks between the two clubs are still ongoing.

Everton also held talks with Douglas Luiz

Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is happy with the team’s performances during their pre-season Asia tour, but warns that ‘everything will change’ when they resume training in Italy.

Milan lost to Arsenal, but secured convincing wins over Arsenal and Liverpool in their pre-season tour in the Asia-Pacific Region.

“We’ve had three good weeks of work since we started, and it’s been a good tour, marked by decent performances in three friendlies,” Allegri told Gazzetta.

“We’ve trained well, and when we resume on Tuesday, we’ll have to keep in mind that the season will start shortly after. From that moment, everything will change.”

Milan make their 2025-26 Serie A debut on August 23 against Cremonese at San Siro, but the first competitive game of the season is on August 17 when they play Bari in the Coppa Italia first round.

“We need to work calmly and with great balance, without getting carried away when things go well, because over the season, there will definitely be difficult moments,” Allegri added.

“I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat it. Good players show their value in June, in December and again the following June. Bad players, on the other hand, are bad in June, December and six months later too. Mentally, we need to be good at staying balanced and always remembering that a season is like a 38-match cruise. We have to travel at a steady pace the whole way to achieve certain results.”

Several Milan fans supported the Rossoneri in their final match against Perth Glory on Thursday, which Allegri’s men comfortably won 9-0.

“The match against Perth Glory was the last game of this tour, and usually the final match, after several days spent around the world, tends to be taken a bit lightly,” said the Italian tactician.

“But the team did very well because they approached the game seriously, and it was a great evening for sport. We have many fans here in Australia, and we are happy.

“We’ve been welcomed really well. The stadium was packed, and there was enthusiasm. We thank everyone for the warmth they showed here in Australia. The training facilities were excellent. Now, however, it’s time to put this month of work aside and think about the next two friendlies in Dublin and London, because the Coppa Italia will come after, and we can make no mistake.”

Milan will face Leeds United in Dublin on August 9 and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on August 10.

Allegri returned to Milan in May, more than 11 years after being sacked by the Rossoneri. He has signed a two-year contract at San Siro, with an option for a further campaign.

Agent confirms Juventus and Napoli talks over Miretti but Allegri ‘won’t resign’ without Jashari https://football-italia.net/agent-miretti-napoli-talks-allegri-not-resign/ https://football-italia.net/agent-miretti-napoli-talks-allegri-not-resign/#respond Fri, 01 Aug 2025 09:07:25 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=905894

Giovanni Branchini, agent of Fabio Miretti, confirms Napoli are in talks with Juventus over the Italian midfielder and insists Massimiliano Allegri ‘won’t resign’ if Milan fail to sign Ardon Jashari.

Miretti’s agent, Branchini, confirms Napoli are interested in his client and have already opened talks with Juventus over a possible deal.

“There’s no doubt that Napoli are interested in Miretti, we are waiting for the developments because the clubs have started talking. Miretti has been playing since he was 9; he’ll turn 22 in two days. He has played 100 Serie A games and 75 for Juventus, so he’s waiting for a decision to be taken,” Branchini told Sky Sport.

“It’s a privilege to be involved in talks between Napoli and Juventus. This is already an excellent result.”

Branchini is also the agent of Milan coach Allegri, and even if the Rossoneri are pushing to sign Jashari from Club Brugge, the Italian tactician won’t lose his sleep if the deal is not completed.

“Are you sure it’s a firm and insistent request from the coach? He [Jashari] was proposed, he passed the evaluation but he’s not the 11th player needed to field a full team,” Branchini added via TMW.

“Allegri hasn’t made such specific requests; he’s an interesting profile, and negotiations are ongoing, that’s true, but I’m not even sure that everyone agrees on this operation.

“Club Brugge and the player have been contacted, the offer is serious, but I don’t think Allegri will resign if Jashari doesn’t arrive.”

Milan sent an offer close to €40m, including add-ons, last week, but Club Brugge rejected it, while the player has already given the green light to move to San Siro, having agreed to personal terms with the Serie A giants.

“He’s an interesting young player. Milan want to sign him and I believe they’re working hard to do so,” Branchini concluded.

“But right now, Allegri is playing and working with the group he has, and he keeps saying that the players are giving him satisfaction for their efforts and dedication. We all know there are still a few pieces missing, but there’s no fear of not completing the squad. He’s convinced it will happen at the right time.”

Milan are returning to Italy after playing three pre-season friendlies in the Asia-Pacific Region. They lost 1-0 to Arsenal, but beat Liverpool 4-2 and Perth Glory 9-0.
