Enzo Maresca is delighted with Chelsea’s season but reveals the first thing he’ll do after their Club World Cup victory is to return to Italy for holidays.

Maresca’s Chelsea became the first-ever team to win the FIFA Club World Cup beating 2025 Champions League winners 3-0 on Sunday.

The Italian tactician spoke to Sportitalia on Sunday.

“It was a great season in the Premier League and the Conference League. We are so happy. Even the experiences that don’t go well are useful for improvement,” he said.

Maresca was sacked after just 14 games at Parma in 2021, when the Ducali were playing in Serie B.

It was his first managerial appointment for a professional club after working as Manchester City U23 coach, West Ham’s assistant manager and Sevilla’s technical coach.

A former Serie A midfielder for Juventus, Bologna, Piacenza, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Palermo, Maresca revealed the first thing he’d do after leading Chelsea to their latest trophy.

“Go on holiday from tomorrow [today], for three weeks in Italy,” he concluded.

Maresca had won the Conference League in 2024-25 making Chelsea the first club to win all four major European trophies, all with Italian tacticians in charge.

Chelsea secured a 3-0 win over 2025 Champions League winners PSG on Sunday night, becoming the first ever Club World Cup winners, but there was a tense end to the game with players and coaches involved in an ugly scuffle.

Italy captain Gigio Donnarumma and his teammate Achraf Hakimi argued with Chelsea striker Joao Pedro right after the final whistle, sparking a brawl that involved many of their teammates.

Maresca was involved too, but he ultimately calmed Donnarumma down by hugging him and talking to his compatriot for a few seconds.

As reported by Sky Sport Italia, Maresca appeared to tell Donnarumma ‘You’ve won everything’ prompting the Italian keeper to cool off, especially after winning the treble, including the Champions League, in 2024-25.

Italy star Donnarumma shaken by horrific Musiala injury https://football-italia.net/donnarumma-shaken-by-horrific-musiala-injury/ https://football-italia.net/donnarumma-shaken-by-horrific-musiala-injury/#respond Sat, 05 Jul 2025 17:14:34 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=902208

Italy and PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was left visibly shaken after impact with Jamal Musiala caused a serious injury for the Bayern Munich forward during the Club World Cup.

The Azzurri star had made several big saves in this quarter-final in Atlanta to keep the scoreline level and rushed out to smother at the feet of Musiala just before half-time.

However, in an entirely accidental situation, Musiala landed heavily and seemed to fracture his left ankle as he fell.

Donnarumma was the first to see what had happened up close and was visibly traumatised by the scene, aware immediately of just how serious this was.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain players consoled Donnarumma, reassuring him that this was not in any way his fault, as Musiala received treatment.

The goalkeeper left the field in tears at half-time, while Musiala was stretchered off.

The 22-year-old talent spent time in the Southampton and Chelsea youth academies before moving to Bayern Munich in 2020.

He already has 40 senior caps for Germany, scoring eight goals, and only recently signed a new contract to June 2030.

As for Donnarumma, he already experienced an unlucky injury of his own in December, an accidental clash leaving him with a large scar on his cheek.

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic caused controversy on social media by liking a Jude Bellingham Instagram post praising the Merengues after their win against the Bianconeri.

Comolli: ‘Juventus must re-learn how to win as a club’ https://football-italia.net/comolli-juventus-must-re-learn-how-to-win-club/ https://football-italia.net/comolli-juventus-must-re-learn-how-to-win-club/#comments Tue, 01 Jul 2025 22:09:29 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901656

Juventus director general Damien Comolli felt ‘both frustration and a learning process’ at the Club World Cup exit to Real Madrid, insisting ‘we need as a club to re-learn how to win.’

The Bianconeri won the first two games in the USA competition, against Al-Ain and Wydad, but were swept aside 5-2 by Manchester City to finish runners-up in their group.

That meant a tougher draw in the Round of 16 and they were eliminated with a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in Miami this evening.

“I see it as a bit frustration and a bit of a learning process,” Comolli told Sport Mediaset.

“There is frustration because we were hoping to go further and the team in the first half especially showed that they had the quality to go further. Maybe we were unlucky to be up against Real Madrid and if the draw had been easier against other teams, that would’ve been better.

“At the same time, it was a great learning process, I am learning a lot about how to work with the coaching staff and how the players are functioning as a team. Now we have to step back from the competition, I think OK we’ve learned a lot, but at the moment the feeling is frustration.”

Comolli only took over from sacked Cristiano Giuntoli right on the eve of the Club World Cup, so has been extremely busy not just on this tournament, but also the transfer market opening up.

“We analysed the team with data before coming into the tournament and this is a team of very strong players. Those players need to understand how good they are, and those players need to understand that they can win. We need as a club to re-learn how to win.

“I think that’s going to be my goal and the coach’s goal for the next few months. We are not talking about individual cases, what we want is to make the team stronger in the next transfer window, in every transfer window. Then those players, those who arrive and those who are already here, need to understand they have the capability to win.

“I am 100 per cent convinced about this.”

Dusan Vlahovic spent the entire game on the bench, along with Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula, who have all been transfer-listed, but Comolli refused to be drawn on a message for these players.

“It is not the time to talk about individual cases. We are trying to digest the frustration and disappointment of losing today. Our obsession on a daily basis is to get better, to improve the team, improve the players who are here in three weeks’ time when we start pre-season and to improve with more quality players.”

Tudor: ‘Juventus were tired, but right strategy’ with Real Madrid https://football-italia.net/tudor-juventus-tire-right-strategy-real-madrid/ https://football-italia.net/tudor-juventus-tire-right-strategy-real-madrid/#comments Tue, 01 Jul 2025 21:54:45 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901653

Igor Tudor insists Juventus had ’10 players asking to come off’ with fitness problems during the 1-0 Club World Cup defeat to Real Madrid, but saw a ‘different strategy’ from his squad.

It was a hard-fought match in Miami and was eventually decided by a free header from Gonzalo Garcia on the Trent Alexander-Arnold cross from the right.

Goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio kept his men in it to the last minute thanks to some extraordinary saves, including on Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde and Arda Guler, but Randal Kolo Muani wasted Juve’s best chance in the opening minutes with a lob onto the roof of the net.

Tudor gave Juventus a different approach

“I have to congratulate the lads, because they stuck to the game plan we had and followed the strategy. They gave their all in the circumstances, at the end there were 10 players asking to come off,” Tudor told Sport Mediaset.

Lloyd Kelly limped off with a muscular problem, further adding to the issues in defence as Federico Gatti had flu symptoms, but Tudor raised eyebrows when substituting Kenan Yildiz.

“Yildiz was stretching, we were afraid he would hurt himself, but others were in a similar situation. There was a slot, I wanted to make more attacking changes, but Frank (Conceicao) was hurt and I was afraid we’d be down to 10 men.”

Juventus bow out of the Club World Cup after two wins and two defeats, but it was an improvement on the performance against Manchester City, which was a humiliating 5-2 loss.

“We went to school against two teams of the highest level,” added Tudor.

“It’s valuable to compare where we are with these teams and learn going forward. We prepared a very different strategy against Real Madrid and it was also a different context, as the City game didn’t count, whereas this was a knockout tie.

“You don’t know when Real Madrid are more dangerous, is it when they pass it around, or go on the counter? We had a few scoring opportunities too, I congratulated the lads, and we build from here.”

Now that Juventus can begin planning for next season with Tudor at the helm, what do they need most from the transfer market?

“This is not the moment to answer these questions. We will rest now and then prepare for the next season. Let us all have a good vacation now,” smiled the coach.

Locatelli: ‘Juventus only had one bad performance’ in Club World Cup https://football-italia.net/locatelli-juventus-only-one-bad-performance/ https://football-italia.net/locatelli-juventus-only-one-bad-performance/#respond Tue, 01 Jul 2025 21:27:31 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901646

Manuel Locatelli feels ‘the only game we really played badly was against Manchester City’ in the Club World Cup, as they were eliminated in a tight 1-0 result by Real Madrid.

The Bianconeri knew they had a difficult draw after finishing runners-up in their group to Manchester City, but it was only a slender 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in Miami.

Gonzalo Garcia was allowed a free header on the Trent Alexander-Arnold cross, though Michele Di Gregorio kept the scoreline down with several huge saves.

“I think today we gave our all, even against a very strong opponent, showed great team spirit. They managed to get a goal and we didn’t, it’s a pity, but the only game in this tournament where we really played badly was against Manchester City,” Locatelli told Sport Mediaset.

“We are Juventus and therefore had hoped to progress in the competition, but this is the way it went. Juve must never be happy if we go out, but we gave our all and had the right attitude, whereas against Manchester City we were too sluggish and allowed them to control the game.”

This defeat means that Juventus are out of the Club World Cup at the Round of 16 stage, the same as Inter, who were eliminated 2-0 by Brazilians Fluminense last night.

“It has been a long and intense campaign, we are tired, now we need to recharge the batteries and try to restart with more energy.”

While Juventus had doubts at the end of the Serie A campaign on who would be their coach going forward, Igor Tudor signed the new contract before the Club World Cup kicked off.

“It is not the time to think about next season, we just need to go spend some time with our families and recharge those batteries,” concluded Locatelli.

Player Ratings: Real Madrid 1-0 Juventus – Bianconeri improve but Di Gregorio still the best https://football-italia.net/player-ratings-real-madrid-1-0-juventus/ https://football-italia.net/player-ratings-real-madrid-1-0-juventus/#comments Tue, 01 Jul 2025 21:18:59 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901622

Juventus suffered a 1-0 loss against Real Madrid in the Club World Cup Round of 16, with their goalkeeper, Michele Di Gregorio, being named Football Italia’s Man of the Match.

Juventus player ratings

Di Gregorio 8 – Kept Juventus in the game with some crucial interventions, ten in total. The best one was probably a full-stretch save to deny Federico Valverde in the first half, but he was even busier after the break. One of the best Juventus players in the Club World Cup.

Kalulu 5 – Didn’t win many duels, and Real Madrid were often dangerous, producing 21 total shots. Too much to handle for the Frenchman.

Rugani 5.5 – Real Madrid strikers gave him a headache, especially in the second half. He hadn’t played for Juventus for over a year; it was hard to expect more than this (86′ Gatti N/A).

Kelly 5 – A poor clearance paved the way for Real Madrid’s opener, but it wasn’t just his fault. Still lacking confidence, left the pitch injured (59′ Nico Gonzalez 5.5).

Alberto 5 – The Portuguese naturally struggled in one-v-one situations against Vini Jr, especially when he dropped in a three-man defence. Didn’t push much down the right flank.

Locatelli 6 – Don’t expect many key passes from him, but neither will there be many mistakes. Juventus may need more quality in central midfield, but surely he wasn’t the weakest starter. (86′ McKennie N/A)

Thuram 6.5 – By far the best Juventus central midfielder. Great physicality and reading of the game, and only missed three passes from 54 (via Sofascore).

Cambiaso 6 – Started the game on the left flank and finished on the right. You can tell he’s one of the most technically gifted players on the team, but he must turn it into quality passes and create more chances.

Conceiçao 5.5 – One shot on target, but it was not the house’s speciality as his header was blocked by Courtois (59′ Kostic 5.5).

Yildiz 6.5 – Everything Juventus created came from him, including the best chance of the match for Kolo Muani. He didn’t seem too happy when he was subbed off (70′ Koopmeiners 5.5).

Kolo Muani 5 – Involved in the build-play with quality, but he missed a massive chance in the first half. He had to score in front of Courtois, with or without a chip shot.

Coach Tudor 5.5 – At least there was a reaction after the heavy defeat against Manchester City. The opening 30 minutes were really positive, but then Madrid’s quality emerged and the Merengues would have deserved to score more than once. Tudor’s Juventus conceded another headed goal. It had happened ten times in Serie A in 2024-25. One of the things to fix next season.

Club World Cup | Real Madrid 1-0 Juventus: Heroic Di Gregorio not enough https://football-italia.net/club-world-cup-real-madrid-1-0-juventus-enough/ https://football-italia.net/club-world-cup-real-madrid-1-0-juventus-enough/#comments Tue, 01 Jul 2025 20:58:44 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901614

Juventus capitulated to Real Madrid in the Club World Cup Round of 16, as Gonzalo Garcia broke through despite Michele Di Gregorio heroics.

The Bianconeri lost Nicolò Savona to a badly sprained ankle during the 5-2 defeat to Manchester City and Federico Gatti had flu symptoms, so Daniele Rugani made his return to Juventus after a year at Ajax. Kylian Mbappé hadn’t featured in the Club World Cup yet due to gastroenteritis and was on the bench for the first time, so with David Alaba, Ferland Mendy, Endrick, Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao injured, Xabi Alonso used the same XI that beat RB Salzburg, including ex-Juventus defender Dean Huijsen.

See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

Randal Kolo Muani should’ve put Juve in front after seven minutes when sent clear by Kenan Yildiz, but his lob was over-hit and landed on the roof of an empty net.

Kenan Yildiz also saw his curler deflected inches past the far top corner, while Michele Di Gregorio needed a desperate reaction save from point-blank range on Jude Bellingham, allowing Rugani to hoof it clear.

Di Gregorio also needed one strong hand to push a Federico Valverde scorcher round the near post from well outside the box in first half stoppages.

Valverde volleyed wide again, then Kolo Muani almost made the most of a mix-up between Antonio Rudiger and Thibaut Courtois.

Manuel Locatelli sprinted back and threw himself in the path of a Vinicius Jr counter-attack, Di Gregorio parried a Bellingham piledriver from the edge of the area, then pushed a swerving Huijsen volley round the post.

Real Madrid finally had the breakthrough when Gonzalo Garcia was left unmarked for a free header from six yards on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s dinked cross after a period of consistent pressure.

Francisco Conceicao responded immediately by testing Courtois with a low drive, but Lloyd Kelly limped off with a flexor issue.

Di Gregorio’s heroics continued with quick reactions to an acrobatic Valverde overhead kick and using his legs on the Arda Guler first-time screamer, while Nico Gonzalez drilled just wide.

The Di Gregorio show continued, getting down to fingertip an Aurelien Tchaoumeni daisy-cutter round the upright to keep it open until the final whistle, but Real Madrid will go on to face either Borussia Dortmund or Monterrey in the quarter-final of the Club World Cup.

Tudor: ‘Real Madrid have more quality, but Juventus must believe’ https://football-italia.net/tudor-real-madrid-more-quality-juventus-belief/ https://football-italia.net/tudor-real-madrid-more-quality-juventus-belief/#respond Tue, 01 Jul 2025 18:51:33 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901589

Juventus coach Igor Tudor admits Real Madrid ‘certainly have more quality,’ but urges his men to ‘really believe’ and ‘play with courage’ in the Club World Cup Round of 16.

It kicks off at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami at 20.00 UK time.

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens on the Liveblog.

The winners will face either Borussia Dortmund or Monterrey in the quarter-final on Saturday.

Tudor wants no Juventus regrets

“We need teamwork, to suffer, to believe, go forward and score goals, don’t make mistakes at the back. It is a super difficult match, but at the same time also a wonderful game to play,” Tudor told DAZN.

Nicolò Savona badly sprained his ankle during the 5-2 defeat to Manchester City and is out for at least a month, while Federico Gatti is suffering from flu symptoms.

That means Daniele Rugani gets his Club World Cup debut in a totally reshuffled defence, with Alberto Costa at right wing-back.

“I tried to give the lads my input, which is to really believe, because that’s what you need in life and in football. Not to afterwards think oh we could’ve done that, we should’ve done that. You have to give your heart and soul in the moment,” continued Tudor.

“We have quality, Real Madrid certainly have more, but in football you have to play with courage and see what happens.”

Kenan Yildiz is given the nod in attack, with Randal Kolo Muani and Francisco Conceicao, but Tudor rejected any questions about the Turkish talent.

“I don’t want to talk about individuals. If we want to do something extraordinary today, we need all 16 players to give their all, including those off the bench.”

It is a new Real Madrid side under coach Xabi Alonso after years of Carlo Ancelotti, drawing 1-1 with Simone Inzaghi’s Al-Hilal before beating Pachuca and RB Salzburg.

The best way to live stream the Club World Cup is with DAZN, which is offering a free service this summer, which can also be upgraded to a premium service. DAZN’s free offer means ads during games, and no replays or extended highlights, but it’s still a pretty tempting deal that will surely get Calcio fans and others signing up quickly.

Team News

Igor Tudor’s men started with comfortable victories over Al-Ain and Wydad AC, only to be swept aside 5-2 by Manchester City.

Nicolò Savona badly sprained his ankle in that match and will be out for at least a month, but more changes are forced too, as Federico Gatti is suffering from flu symptoms.

With Gleison Bremer not fit either, that means Daniele Rugani has to get his Club World Cup debut from the start with Pierre Kalulu and Lloyd Kelly.

Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula return to the bench after rejecting transfers to Nottingham Forest, with Dusan Vlahovic dropped.

Weston McKennie is sent to the bench in favour of Alberto Costa in a more advanced role.

Real Madrid drew 1-1 with Al-Hilal, then beat Pachuca and RB Salzburg as they get used to life under new coach Xabi Alonso.

He too had a lot of injury issues, missing David Alaba, Ferland Mendy, Endrick, Daniel Carvajal and Eder Militao.

Kylian Mbappé was suffering from a nasty bout of gastroenteritis, so has not played a minute of Club World Cup football so far and is for the first time on the bench.

It is therefore the same starting XI that beat RB Salzburg 3-0, with Gonzalo Garcia, Vinicius Junior and Arda Guler.

That sends Jude Bellingham into a deeper role, while former Juventus youth team player Dean Huijsen faces his former club.

Another summer signing playing today is ex-Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Lautaro Martinez row proves why Calhanoglu ready to leave Inter https://football-italia.net/lautaro-martinez-row-calhanoglu-ready-inter/ https://football-italia.net/lautaro-martinez-row-calhanoglu-ready-inter/#comments Tue, 01 Jul 2025 15:50:35 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901522

The very public spat between Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu feels like the most suitable ending to a dismal season for Inter, writes Susy Campanale.

Perhaps Cristian Chivu should thank Lautaro Martinez for managing to completely overshadow the Club World Cup elimination at the hands of Fluminense. The captain’s post-match statements aimed squarely at want-away teammate Calhanoglu distracted everyone from another awful performance, one that confirmed this squad is at the end of a very long road.

Simone Inzaghi saw the writing on the wall long before the 5-0 Champions League Final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, just as Calhanoglu can see it is the ideal time to move on. It has been a strong four years for the Nerazzurri, winning the Scudetto, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italia and reaching two Champions League Finals. You could argue Inzaghi should’ve had more than one Serie A title considering it was easily the strongest squad in the tournament over those four years, but progressing so far in Europe on that budget is not to be underestimated.

All good things must come to an end, and this Inter team has for months looked like it is running on empty. A long rest – which they won’t get anyway thanks to the Club World Cup participation, albeit brief – won’t be enough to refresh those batteries. This is an ageing squad that gave its all and is in dire need of a revamp to start anew.

Lautaro Martinez clinging to Inter past

Not everyone can see that, though, as Lautaro Martinez is clinging to an idea they all go down with the ship. He is helping nobody with this open attack on Calhanoglu, least of all the club, and the insults are entirely unwarranted. It’s only natural that Calhanoglu wants to join Galatasaray, a club he grew up supporting, and has done nothing to publicly push for the transfer when he had more than enough opportunities to do so.

He crossed the divide from Milan to Inter for free, revitalised his career in a brand new role, and helped the team win several trophies. What more can they ask of him? It is time to move on and make Inter slightly less predictable in its dependency on the Turkish midfielder.

Lautaro Martinez thinks he is defending Inter’s honour by lashing out at a teammate, but he needs to realise that this is what modern football represents. The Argentine is now a true rarity in his steadfast commitment to the club colours, and he must not expect others to be similarly passionate when they haven’t been there as long as him.

Calhanoglu has every right to want a new experience and hope an agreement can be reached. He has gone about this in a much classier way than most would in his position. In his attempt to take a stand, Lautaro Martinez just made it all far more difficult to ensure it is an amicable parting.

Thiago Silva ‘called Allegri’ for tips on how to beat Inter https://football-italia.net/thiago-silva-called-allegri-tips-beat-inter/ https://football-italia.net/thiago-silva-called-allegri-tips-beat-inter/#comments Tue, 01 Jul 2025 08:49:24 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901453

Fluminense captain Thiago Silva, a former Milan star, reveals he called Massimiliano Allegri before the Inter game to have ‘some information’ about the Nerazzurri.

Thiago Silva’s Fluminense beat Inter 2-0 in the Club World Cup Round of 16 on Monday.

During a post-match interview with SportMediaset, Thiago Silva revealed that he had spoken to his former coach, Allegri, before the match.

“I’m passionate about football. This week, I called Allegri, a friend of mine, and I asked for some information about Inter,” said the Brazilian centre-back.

“He spoke highly of this team. He has great respect for them, just as I do. I managed to pass on some of this information to the team, and I think Allegri gave us good tips.

“We didn’t talk about Milan. I told him that perhaps I’ll visit him, Ibra and this great team in January.

“I’m pleased with our team’s performance. It’s not easy to play Inter this way. We knew it was a tough game,” Thiago Silva continued.

“I think we played well defensively. With the ball, we were unable to play as we are accustomed to, and it was tough to beat their pressure. Especially with this heat, it wasn’t easy to play.

“We are very satisfied with the qualification, but now we must rest because we play again in three or four days.”

Inter will return to Europe with even more issues to solve, especially after their captain, Lautaro Martinez, openly hit out at Hakan Calhanoglu, saying that he must leave if he no longer wants to fight for important targets at San Siro.

Thiago Silva spent three seasons at Milan, from 2009 to 2012, winning one Serie A title and one Supercoppa Italiana.

The Brazilian defender scored four goals in 79 appearances under Allegri before joining Ligue 1 giants PSG in a €42m deal in 2012.

Juventus coach Igor Tudor says the Bianconeri will need ‘courage and a bit of luck’ against Real Madrid in the Club World Cup Round of 16: ‘As I told my guys, we must see this as an opportunity; everyone dreams of beating Real Madrid.’

The Bianconeri host meet the Merengues in the Club World Cup Round of 16 today.

It kicks off at 15:00 local time in Miami (21:00 CET).

Federico Gatti didn’t train with the rest of the team on Monday, but Tudor hinted that the Italian defender could still be available.

The Bianconeri qualified for the Round of 16 as the Group G runners-up after wins over Al Ain and Wydad and a 5-2 loss against Manchester City

“We must run a lot, make no mistakes, believe and have courage, with a bit of luck,” Tudor said at a press conference via Gazzetta.

“We prepared differently from the match against Manchester City, but now we have to look ahead. Facing Real Madrid isn’t ideal, but we truly believe in ourselves. It’s going to be a tough game against a prestigious team. Real Madrid is always extremely strong in these tournaments. We’ll play our cards because we want to advance.

“I really liked Real Madrid’s latest match. They played with quality and sacrifice. Xabi Alonso has really passed on his ideas in a short time,” Tudor continued.

“You can already see similarities with his Bayern Leverkusen side. Xabi will do great in Madrid. They have high-level players, but as I told my guys, we must see this as an opportunity; everyone dreams of beating Real Madrid.”

Tudor’s compatriot Luka Modric is expected to start on the bench for Real Madrid and is set to join Milan as a free agent after the Club World Cup.

“Someone like Modric is born every 300 years in Croatia,” said the Juventus coach.

“He’s a special player and a special person. He’s a source of pride for all of us Croatians. I care about him a lot, and I hope he continues to play and enjoy himself; he’s only 40.”

Tudor previously stated that Juventus would need three new signings to be competitive in the 2025-26 season, but the defeat against Manchester City suggests that the Bianconeri must make more new additions to the team for next season.

“We’ll talk about that after the Club World Cup,” Tudor concluded.

Club World Cup: Real Madrid vs Juventus – probable line-ups and where to watch on TV https://football-italia.net/real-madrid-juventus-probable-xi-watch-tv/ https://football-italia.net/real-madrid-juventus-probable-xi-watch-tv/#respond Tue, 01 Jul 2025 07:59:14 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901444

Randal Kolo Muani and Kenan Yildiz return to the Juventus starting XI for a Club World Cup Round of 16 tie against Real Madrid.

It kicks off at 15:00 local time (21:00 CET) at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

The Bianconeri must cope without the injured Nicolò Savona, while Federico Gatti missed a training session on the eve of the game due to fever, so he’s unlikely to start.

It remains to be seen whether Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula will be available after Igor Tudor dropped them for the previous match against Manchester City after the pair had snubbed a move to Nottingham Forest.

Kolo Muani and Yildiz will return to the Juventus’ XI, according to several sources, including Tuttosport and Gazzetta, sending Dusan Vlahovic and Teun Koopmeiners to the bench.

Andrea Cambiaso will get the nod as a left wing-back and the only doubt appears to be in defence, where Daniele Rugani and Alberto Costa compete for a starting spot.

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé is available again and could make his first appearance at the Club World Cup, though he’s expected to start on the bench.

Real Madrid vs Juventus – where to watch on TV

The best way to live stream the Club World Cup is with DAZN, which is offering a free service this summer, which can also be upgraded to a premium service. DAZN’s free offer means ads during games, and no replays or extended highlights, but it’s still a pretty tempting deal that will surely get Blues fans and others signing up quickly.

Real Madrid vs Juventus – probable line-ups

Real Madrid (3-5-2): Courtois; Rudiger, Tchouameni, Huijsen; Trent, Bellingham, Arda Guler, Valverde, Fran Garcia; Gonzalo, Vinicius.

Juventus (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Rugani, Kelly; McKennie, Locatelli, Thuram, Cambiaso; Conceiçao, Yildiz; Kolo Muani.

Marotta: ‘Calhanoglu has not asked to leave Inter yet’ https://football-italia.net/marotta-calhanoglu-not-asked-to-leave-inter/ https://football-italia.net/marotta-calhanoglu-not-asked-to-leave-inter/#respond Mon, 30 Jun 2025 22:11:48 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901426

Inter President Beppe Marotta has tried to calm the tension around Hakan Calhanoglu’s desire to join Galatasaray after Lautaro Martinez’s strong message. ‘We have not spoken to him yet.’

The Nerazzurri were eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup in the Round of 16 this evening with a 2-0 defeat to Fluminense.

It has however been overshadowed by the angry statements in the post-match interviews from captain Lautaro Martinez, who seemed to very clearly lash out at teammate Calhanoglu.

“I am not going to name names. We are here to give our all, but I saw many things I did not like. I am captain, I am the leader of the group, so I have to speak up,” he told DAZN.

“The message is clear: those who want to stay and continue challenging for important trophies can do so, otherwise, goodbye.”

Marotta open on Calhanoglu situation

While he is not naming names, Inter President Marotta is not going to shy away from the situation and spoke very openly to DAZN.

“These are the words of a captain, who underlined some eternal truths, which is that when a player no longer wants to be there, it is only right that he goes,” said Marotta.

“As of today, nobody has expressly told us that he wanted to leave. I imagine this was referring to Calhanoglu, who we will talk to and resolve the situation in the best way for everyone.”

The Turkish midfielder did not participate at all in the Club World Cup, as he was carrying an injury since international duty.

Has Marotta seen a lack of effort or desire from Calhanoglu lately?

“We must always thank him for what he has done. The transfer window officially starts tomorrow and there are bound to be some strong positions taken.

“So far, he has not manifested anything to us directly, but we are ready to listen to him and to others. For now, nobody has told us they want to leave.

“It is understandable that the batteries are running low after a long season.”

Marotta also spoke to Sport Mediaset and again openly mentioned that this was about Calhanoglu.

“We must not blame Calhanoglu. We haven’t spoken to him yet, we will do over the next few weeks. If we decide to take different paths, we will do that, but we are not there yet.”

The issue seems to be that while Inter are happy to let Calhanoglu join Galatasaray, they are not prepared to drop below his fair asking price, which should be around €30m.

While there has been much talk of how much he wants to make this move, there has been no formal offer to Inter.

Chivu: ‘Glass half full for Inter, I’m more diplomatic than Lautaro’ https://football-italia.net/chivu-glass-half-full-inter-diplomatic-lautaro/ https://football-italia.net/chivu-glass-half-full-inter-diplomatic-lautaro/#comments Mon, 30 Jun 2025 21:58:29 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=901423

Cristian Chivu admits he shares Lautaro Martinez’s views on a message to Hakan Calhanoglu, but was ‘a bit more diplomatic’ about it, but sees the ‘glass half full’ after Club World Cup elimination to Fluminense.

The Nerazzurri were the favourites going into this first knockout tie of the tournament, having topped the group with a 1-1 draw against Monterrey, then back-to-back wins over Urawa Reds and River Plate.

However, a defensive mix-up allowed German Cano to nod in from close range in the third minute, then Stefan de Vrij missed a sitter with 44-year-old goalkeeper Fabio making a couple of great saves.

Hercules made the most of another collective Inter nap at the back in stoppages to seal the 2-0 result, with Lautaro Martinez and Federico Dimarco hitting the woodwork for Chivu’s side.

Chivu saw Inter running on empty

“Fluminense were fresher and sharper,” Chivu told Sport Mediaset.

“We didn’t have the right approach that I wanted on the field, we struggled with their intensity and high press. We were a bit presumptuous, trying to play it pretty when we should’ve done simpler things.

“Overall, you could all see what our energy levels were. We tried to the end to turn it around, and were also unlucky hitting the woodwork twice and with that Stefan de Vrij chance. At the end of the day, we conceded two goals with the only two real shots on target.”

Chivu took the job just days before flying out to the USA for the Club World Cup, as Simone Inzaghi walked away to take over at Al-Hilal instead.

Has the new boss seen any positives from this experience, which lasted only four games?

“I will take the three weeks that allowed me to get to know the group. I got to know their strengths, weaknesses, their personalities and the attitude of a group of lads who after a difficult season had to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

“I always see the glass half full, otherwise it gives me a headache. So let’s build on these three weeks to plan for next season.”

Inter tension is sky high

This is the conclusion of a terribly disappointing season, which saw Inzaghi miss out on the Scudetto, Supercoppa Italiana, Coppa Italia and lose the Champions League Final 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain.

Captain Lautaro Martinez lashed out in his post-match interviews with a likely message for Hakan Calhanoglu, who has reportedly pushed the club for a transfer to Galatasaray, claiming anyone who doesn’t want to be here ought to leave.

“We are winners, so we must dig deep for our pride and character,” replied Chivu when asked about these comments.

“I too said in my press conference that we must all work in the same direction, it’s just I was a bit more diplomatic and Lautaro went in studs-up. But this message is true for everyone, in a team and a club that wants to make up for a difficult season, we need to plan next term with ambition.”
