Only one month ago, Inter dreamt of winning the treble, but they have now finished the season with no trophies in their hands.

Inter finished the 2024-25 campaign without any piece of silverware after losing the Champions League Final 5-0 against PSG.

Only one month ago, the Nerazzurri were dreaming of winning the treble, with coach Simone Inzaghi suggesting that his team could even win the quadruple, including the Club World Cup.

However, a Coppa Italia semifinal elimination at the hands of city rivals Milan was the beginning of the end. A few days later, Inzaghi’s men lost 1-0 at home against Roma, seeing Napoli overtake them at the top of the Serie A table.

It was their third consecutive loss across all competitions and a dramatic turning point in their campaign.

Inter entirely switched their focus to the Champions League, especially after an epic 7-6 aggregate win over Barcelona in the Champions League semifinals.

They wasted a chance to overtake Napoli in the penultimate Serie A round, conceding a late equaliser against Lazio at San Siro, while Napoli were held to a 0-0 draw by Parma.

Tonight’s shocking result in Munich means the Nerazzurri have finished the season without a trophy.

12 thought on “Inter nightmare: from treble dreams to empty-handed season”
  1. Inter disgraced Italian football. Its okay to lose a final but 5 goals conceded and none scored with no shots on target is a total disaster. I can’t wish you luck but wish you improve and come back stronger. Forza Milan

  2. Inzaghi’s pathetic record that history will reveal is 1 Scudetto in 4 seasons despite having the best team in Italy all 4 seasons.

Fabregas is an interesting option. He plays a 4-2-2-2 system, extremely attacking style. I would be interested to see what a revamped Inter lineup would look like playing that style.

We need to get rid of all the dead weight first. That means Acerbi, Mkhitaryan, DiMarco, Calha, Arnautovic, Correa and even possibly
Barella have to go. Barella looks washed.

Replacement for Sommer and Inzaghi gone as well.

Fortunately, new Inter owners Oaktree have money to burn and we’re going to need it.

  3. money to burn 😩 Aw it will take more than money to wipe away the skid mark of lo5ing 5-0 in a champ league final. Testa alta ragazzi.

  4. Italy only has one good coach and that is Gasperini . He is only one to win a European final in almost 20 years and does it with aggressive attacking football. Once again a Spanish managed led team destroyed Italian team. Italy ain’t making any World Cup that is for sure and no serie team will win a CL trophy again

  5. Rosario, tell me again, what did your team do this season?

Oh that’s right, they were home watching Inter on TV.

  6. this is a nightmare performance .
    am waiting inzaghi excuses.
I think it will take another 10 yrs for Italian team to win in Europe.
except you get Mourinho back to serie a
or Milan get back to shape.

  7. Inter needs to buy faster defenders next season. not damien, bastoni and acerbi, psg are too fast for them

  8. Even a clock is right twice a day. Fla5h in the pan ‘wins’ happen. The win in 2010 was a fla5h in the pan for a club with zero champ league pedigree. Them and Gobbi being pummelled in champ league finals is a the norm. It is in their DNA’s.
