Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni admits ‘it will take time to fully understand’ what happened in the Champions League Final defeat to PSG. ‘We are disappointed, first and foremost with ourselves.’
The Nerazzurri went into the showdown in Munich with great confidence, having only lost one match throughout the tournament, trailing for a maximum of 370 seconds in one game and with valuable experience earned in the 2023 Final loss to Manchester City.

However, while that was a slender 1-0 result, this 5-0 scoreline left absolutely no room for doubt, as Inter were simply swept aside by Paris Saint-Germain.
Now that he is arriving for international duty with Italy, Bastoni has broken his silence on the situation.
Bastoni shaken by Inter defeat

“It’s tough — this is not the ending we had imagined,” wrote the defender on his Instagram account.
“A painful defeat, one that leaves a deep sense of bitterness and will take time to fully understand. We are disappointed, first and foremost in ourselves. Because we know how much this achievement meant to our team, to the club, and to all the fans who supported us with passion every step of the way.
“Now more than ever, we know how important it is to feel you by our side. We’ll keep fighting and writing new chapters of our story. Forza Inter.”

Inter ended the campaign empty-handed, missing out on the Serie A title by a single point, losing the Supercoppa Italiana Final to Milan, then the Coppa Italia semi-final to the same opponents.
Despite reaching the Final with such good results, Bastoni was the only Inter player who was included in the Champions League Team of the Season drawn up by the UEFA technical panel of experts.

The moment most of you talked (dreamed) about “treble”, that’s when you started diggin’ your own graves.
Thankfully it is you and not Ba5toni de5cribing the defeat a ‘collap5e’.
To describe Paris’ magnificent victory as an Inter collap5e is to in5inuate that it was more the ca5e of Inter lo5ing than Paris winning. Which in reality couldn’t be further from the truth. One team wa5 5imply level5 above.
@rosario you talking to me? Well, if you were, I was immediately pessimistic when like 95% of interisti talking about the 2nd treble. Inter’s current roster & the head coach himself are way inferior to Inter’s 2010 squad & Mou. Again, many interisti could NOT accept the truth.
