Massimiliano Allegri has reportedly given the green light to join Milan, returning to San Siro for a second stint after managing the club between 2010 and 2014.

The former Juventus boss had been strongly linked with a move to Napoli, who were keen to find a replacement for Antonio Conte should he decide to leave.

However, the Rossoneri capitalised on Napoli’s hesitation while trying to convince Conte to stay, intensifying talks with Allegri and ultimately persuading him to sign.

Report Milan have Allegri deal in place

Sportmediaset reported Thursday morning that Milan have reached an agreement with the Italian coach on a three-year deal worth around €5 million per season, adding that former Juventus player Simone Padoin is expected to join his staff, as he did during Allegri’s second spell at the Allianz Stadium.

Napoli have slowed down in negotiations with the 57-year-old after holding positive talks with Conte, as the title-winning manager seems now open to staying after Aurelio De Laurentiis’ promise to strengthen the team and an improved contract offer.
