Newcastle will need a big-money offer to sign Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini as La Dea strongly rely on the Italian defender for the 2025-26 season, especially after his return from injury.

Newcastle and other Premier League clubs have been linked with Atalanta defender Scalvini in recent days, but convincing the Serie A side to sell the Italian defender will be no easy feat.

Sources with direct knowledge of the matter tell me that Newcastle appreciate Scalvini but, on the other hand, Atalanta are unwilling to sell the 21-year-old.

This means that Newcastle and any other interested club would need an above-market offer to persuade Atalanta to change their mind.

Scalvini had been linked with a move to Napoli as well, but the Partenopei’s priority has always been Bologna’s Sam Beukema, who they eventually signed last week.

As for Scalvini, Atalanta strongly rely on the 21-year-old who missed most of the 2024-25 season due to injuries.

Scalvini returned to action after a knee ligament injury in January, but was forced out of action again after just a few weeks, undergoing shoulder surgery.

Only a huge offer could convince Atalanta to change their stance on the player, and currently, they haven’t received any formal proposal.
